2017 Crowd Watch

Last time I was at ANZ the security guards were complete Nazis about people wishing to move closer to the centre of the ground, despite swathes amd swathes of empty seats.

Maybe it has changed now, with bigger GA/ away fan areas that dont just make you sit in the corners, I dont know.

I won't be back, unless we make the GF.

Worst ground for nazis is Penrith. When the Warriors played there, there was a Warriors supporter who was vocal and waving his flag. In good spirit. The Panthers fans were laughing along with it.

10 minutes in he was promptly escorted from the ground. We were sitting three seats away from him. Not a bad thing said. The Penrith fans were livid he'd been taken away.

It's been raining on and off most of today including a few bursts of torrential rain (I live a few kms from the Raiders stadium), so considering that - I think the Raiders crowd is very commendable. Don't let the current sunshine deceive you.

They should charge $25 adult $5 kids sit anywhere you choose at anz. It's a sht stadium for many reasons so anything that encourages people to go should be tried.

It is awful.
Perhaps it is the best attended but i would hazard it has also managed to get most of the best supported teams in the city as tenents.
This in turn means there's a hell of a lot of recpiprocal rights (free tickets) so saying it's the best attended has no bearing on it being a suitable stadium.

I don't know why people feel the need to apologise for it.
I can accept as a sport we need centralised stadiums and whilst sad it is where the sport is. But as a paying customer I'm going to air my feelings on ANZ. Its not up to scratch and I have big doubts it will be up to scratch for normal club games after the redevelopment.

Yup.

Not to mention that it always gets yhe best fixtures. Not like Souths move massive draw cards to Perth. Same with Dogs and Belmore. Then when us and Wests play there, it's always against other Sydney clubs.

I honestly thought Timmah was smarter than to try to pull the ave crowd card.

Still, I hold out hope for the redevelopment.

Is it getting a full roof in the redevelopment? If so and they can actually create a feeling of intimacy for a 20kmcrowd it will have potential, if not it will still be a soulless empty cavern with little appeal.

I just hope the govt wants to see the Western Sydney stadium used more and offers same $ deals for clubs to take games there, it is undoubtedly going to be a better fans experience stadium than anz will ever be for club games.

This is an infinitely shit take.

ANZ is by no means perfect but it's not awful. It's also the best attended ground in Sydney if I'm not mistaken (on average, not aggregate)

Its the worst ground I've ever been too and won't go there unless its finals or free any more.

True,
as Pommy I think was saying it's not a ground i'm happy to go to alone, unlike suburban grounds. Naturally it's going to have a higher drawing average having more higher drawing games.
...
Crowds have been pretty good this weekend, even Friday night could have been worse.
Well done Sharks good initiative, Canberra was pretty good and ours was ok despite our poor form and origin outs.

Wrong. I want the Eels to relocate to Perth. The Western Eels. I'd still go to their ANZ games (once it is rectangularised).
Why of all Sydney teams would you want the Eels to relocate? you are not serious are you?

The ANZ re-development will see a vastly superior fan experience at the stadium if the final product is like the renderings we have all seen. All stands are being pushed significantly forward toward the playing field which will have a more Suncorp feel to it.

The challenge though is before and after for people wanting to start and continue the 'festivities'. Using Brisbane as an example, it has the CBD not far from the stadium AND the CBD is pretty much the centre of Brisbane. Meaning, after (or before)a game it's purley walk up Caxton to hit some half decent watering holes and then a short cab (or walk) to a myriad of inner city venues to see the night out.

Now ANZ is technically in the centre of Sydney, but it's nowhere near the CBD and/or within short distance to a decent amount of post match venues. And that's why I think post re-development, they gotta start looking at sprucing up and enticing more joints in and around the stadium. Entice people to come out and stay out for a bit. Families will be families and go straight home, so it doesn't matter what they do in and around the stadium, that market will go home.

The Brewery next to ANZ is an utter joke. Post 2015 GF, a few of us were watching the replay out in the front area and with about 5 mins to go of the fox replay, they kicked us out. About 100 of us were furious, how the f**k can you be situated right next to the GF venue and only have a 12pm liscense on the night of the GF?

Seemed to be better marketed than most matches, I don't know I saw a lot of advertisements. I mean 12,000 extra people than their last game must have been enticed somehow. Maybe the dancers helped.

Thursday night against the Cowboys who brought no one, against a Saturday night (event) despite depleted sides helped ,as did the dancers.
Saturday night against the Cowboys would have seen minimum 12,000 IMO.

Raiders have dead set jumped 4k per game based on Viking clap alone..

Who knew a tiny bit of atmosphere building would do this ..

Most other clubs invent a role called fan engagement manager who walk out on the ground and talk shit into a microphone basically trying to get themselves a media gig .. has nothing to do with fans

Well done raiders
