Ha ha.Just checked scheduling this year and note (and I could be wrong),the Raiders do not appear to have had any Thursday night games. You know these mid week not family friendly nights .
The Sharks had 3 Thursday nighters all involving interstate teams,Broncos/Cows/Storm.I mean their fans filled planes to get there. The NRL gives a crappy schedule to the Premiers to please the TV mob.
Considering the seating for Penrith and Sharks to Bruce ,so the Raiders should be selling more seating and bigger averages. There's not much else to do in the area. And of course the rental needs to be paid for a non owned GIO stadium.
The mutton tastes great without the mint sauce, gettinbg into the semi gives it that extra flavour.
I think this wins "worst excuse ive ever heard" award...
Ive herd some clangers, but "we are on track for a 2nd gf in 2 years, but our home average was slightly below 50/50"
Have you eve considered that you just dob have that many fans willing to turn up?
we had 2 Friday night 6pm games , the Sharks didn't have any so we didn't get a dream schedule either
plus I'll see you a canberra winter over a shire one any day of the week if we're trotting out excuses willy nilly like you are atm
theres been plenty of home games in the best available time slots saturday night 7.30pm etc for home games for the sharks in good conditions that have drawn poorly too
the schedule has nothing at all to do with these
face it
sharks fans have not done as well in support as one would have expected fans of a side winning their first premiership in 50 years would have
theres been ample amounts of opportunities in good time slots to get out & show the team how much you guys appreciated their effort to win the title last year , but alas
apparently it wasn't that big a deal ..

Isn't the footy the only thing to do in Canberra anyway?
There is that full blown boganfest about shit cars with mag wheels I suppose
When's that though?
Summernats?
January
And there's plenty to do in Canberra
Highest earners in the nation
Highest disposable income too
Lots to spend it on
This 25 year out of date view of the capital is quite hilarious
But you sydneysiders paying double what we do for a mortgage , & sitting in traffic for hours every day & choking on pollution , to go to a job that pays less then one we go to keep telling yourselves that
We don't mind
Yes nice to see Rugby Union in Australia getting a good crowd for 2 teams with real history and not some franchise or some made up micky mouse team in some completion no one bothers with be it live or on TV like NRC bollocks.I think most NRL Woukd be delighted if they could attract a similar crowd to the Shute Shield Grand Final. 18,000 at Nth Sydney Oval on a Saturday Afternoon, and Greenburger is going to persist with the ridiculous Thursday Night and 6pm timeslot fixtures.
Try to keep up Edward.I thought the NRL get to choose the scheduling for next year ? so no 6pm Friday games.
Shit places usually are cheaper

Have a look at the schedule when we played the Storm.Thursday night real family friendly and how many Storm fans made the trip up?They played the Cows on a Thursday night how many did they bring?
The biggest local derby was against the Dragons on a Sunday 6-30pm ,within the first 2 months of the football season in Sydney, the wettest on record. The same period involved a home match against the Broncs.
People are not going to sit or stand on a wet hill, which was packed last sat night in fine weather against the Roosters.Proving my point about scheduling in particular.
Penrith also proved my point about scheduling. If you know the areas, you get to know the best times to maximise patronage.
Therefore my point here is not on the club's efforts this year but scheduling the main and sh*tty whether a big factor earlier,And you're telling me scheduling doesn't play a huge part, with crap weather?
Thus the ground itself is not the final issue, but the ability to get families and people who actually work to the ground based on a decent schedule.
Yeah they've won about 2 home games this years great record for Premiers.
They still have sold the overwhelming majority of their seats during the year.
And how are your hill areas going in the wet BTW in Melbourne?
ahhhhh
I think you're forgetting that both the Sharks & Penrith will have to play their finals in week one at either Allianz or ANZ
not a chance in hell of either final being anywhere near sold out at either venue Id think
I'm confused how this is a response to what I posted. I don't even disagree with most of that. I'm just saying that using form as an excuse for sharks fans not to turn up is ludicrous. Again saying you've won "about 2" home games is a silly exaggeration.
It's also strange seeing Sydney fans complain about a lack of away fans especially when referencing Melbourne. How many away fans do you think Melbourne has had to any games in its history? That's one of the big advantages Sydney has that we currently aren't taking enough advantage of. Hopefully that changes soon.
There's no need to be defensive. I wasn't having a go at the sharks crowds this year. I was calling out the awful excuses being trotted out in defence of those crowds. You can bring up legitimate excuses like rain or Thursday night games. The sharks form and lack of away fans are not legitimate excuses.
I absolutely did forget that. Not a fan really would much rather the week 1 games be played at the teams home venue. Shark park and Penrith would both sellout and look fantastic and it would be a great reward and experience for the fans.
