I'm confused how this is a response to what I posted. I don't even disagree with most of that. I'm just saying that using form as an excuse for sharks fans not to turn up is ludicrous. Again saying you've won "about 2" home games is a silly exaggeration.

It's also strange seeing Sydney fans complain about a lack of away fans especially when referencing Melbourne. How many away fans do you think Melbourne has had to any games in its history? That's one of the big advantages Sydney has that we currently aren't taking enough advantage of. Hopefully that changes soon.

There's no need to be defensive. I wasn't having a go at the sharks crowds this year. I was calling out the awful excuses being trotted out in defence of those crowds. You can bring up legitimate excuses like rain or Thursday night games. The sharks form and lack of away fans are not legitimate excuses.

I absolutely did forget that. Not a fan really would much rather the week 1 games be played at the teams home venue. Shark park and Penrith would both sellout and look fantastic and it would be a great reward and experience for the fans.

No need to be confused ,as I've stated having a poor home ground record this year the fans still came out to support the team, some rather hesitatingly I might add-on the favourable scheduled nights.Hence my comment to someone about getting over 12,300 against the Titans.
Also the poorest Sharks crowds happened against Interstate clubs Storm/Broncos/Cowboys on Thursday night earlier in the year.
Sorry I repeat if the Storm/Broncos and Cowboys play at Sharks Park on a Thursday night, there is a better chance of their fans attending on a Saturday night than a ghost of a chance on a Thursday night to Shark Park.So I once again as i've done monotonously stated scheduling is the crux of the matter.Throw in Thursday nights is a deterrent to families attending especially in the shire ,then you may get my gist.To get one fair enough, to get 3 against big time Interstaters is really stretching the friendship with the NRL admin.

Your crowds in Melbourne have few interstate visitors, never suggested otherwise, but you have the luxury of an all seater stadium, failry centralised to public transport.Much better transport infrastructure than Sydney.

You Melbourne people still cannot fathom the fact,Sydney's transport infrastructure or lack thereof, and
its far wider geographical spread than Melbourne play a big part.Throw in the ease of access to main stadiums in Melbourne.

And here's what can happen if you don't sell your fans out to TV. Not surprisingly AFL has a game schedule, expansion to nine games and venue strategy that maximises attendance potential. Meanwhile we play games on Thursday nights and Fridays when people are still getting home.

The AFL has set a new home-and-away attendance record with five matches still to be played in 2017.
The total attendance after the opening four games of round 23 was 6,531,024.
It broke the previous mark of 6,525,071 set in 2011 when there were only eight matches played each week, rather than nine.
The following year, Greater Western Sydney entered the competition as the 18th club.
“We are extremely proud of our fans in breaking this record,” AFL chief executive Gillon McLachlan said.
“Beyond the competitive season, breaking the all-time attendance record is a combination of our clubs and our venues being focused with us in engaging fans and delivering a great match-day experience.”

Is it difficult for Sharks fans to get to Shark Park? Isn't that the point of suburban grounds, to be close to the fanbase?

It's not relevant to NRL so of little interest to me or most on here. You seem somewhat AFL fixated.
Why would I reply to a post on afl?

Put simply, Sydney's suburban grounds aren't as accessible as AAMI Park is to Melbourne's CBD.

Just off the top of my head:
Shark Park is 1.5km from the nearest train station and has limited parking.
Brookvale is serviced only by buses.
Pepper is nearly 2km from the station as well.

Most of these places still rely on plenty of car parking.

Your "being close to the fanbase" remark is a bit disingenuous - fans of all clubs aren't centralised like they might have been 30-40-50 years ago, they come from all over Sydney and even further away. This is of course different in one-team towns like Brisbane and Melbourne where these grounds are centrally located and generally access is logical and close to the ground.

You are trying to compare Canberra to Cronulla?

Even our boring shit is Exciting.
A nuclear reactor
A freaking oil refinery
You blokes have a war memorial...which is basically an indoor grave yard.
BORING!!!

Ok ...if we are throwing in places that are to buggery away from Cronulla... then Goulburn is part of Canberra
Same thing really.
Beanie & lumber jacket wearing ute driving alcoholics ....with the ugliest women in all of Australia ...excluding Perth of course.

cronulla is no different to any other part of Sydney except it has a few beaches that some places don't
its the same ridiculously expensive city to live in
poor roads
poor hospitals
poor schools
crime
pollution

its everything ... Canberra is not
