so I guess we're down 10K at ANZ next week now
around 35Kish Id think
Parramatta arguably have the largest supporter base in the NRL in Sydney
& they are playing very well
hopefully its a bigger turnout & Parra fans put pressure on the NRL to consider ANZ for the prelim if they win next saturday as it would house a far bigger crowd then Allianz against the Roosters

Pretty ordinary round, only crowd approaching par was in Melbourne and even then we should be getting closer to 25k for these games.

Pax on my grand final ticket is 2400 so at least we know that game will hit four digits...

big hit!

15k for 2 Sydney teams in a finals game.

You can sugar coat it as much as you want but that is a f$&@ing disgrace.

f**k me, I was saying that it should get 30k minimum. 15k is f**king atrocious.

Well done NRL for turning this wonderful game into the KFC bunker show, and f**k up shit.

So the AFL crowd aggregate for week 1 finals tripled the NRL.

Maybe all the attention our poor crowds is copping everywhere, including the mainstream media will make Greenberg and the clubs start to contemplate some strategies. But who am I kidding, it won't happen.

Shitney does it again.

"Capital of RL". What a joke.
The decision to reduce longstanding clubs by almagamating and putting them in a lower competition has sent a negative message to existing fans and casual fans. The fruit of weakening this great code is starting to bear its ugly consequences from the administrators who were talked into reducing the rugby league top flight presence in Sydney. Not only has it destroyed/weakened public confidence, its given a free kick to other codes that have ridden the protest vote and given people whom dont like rugby league their place and code to shine.

Pathetic 'heartland' crowds the self entitlement of heartland can't backup when it comes to crowds. No excuses for such dismal crowds: $15 tickets (cost excuse gone), fine weather, two heartland teams against each other and can't get 20k is unacceptable.

All those decades the clubs had to build fanbases and that the best they can come up with come finals. Once again holding the code down from reaching its potential with empty seats and endless excuses.

Except 5 years ago crowds weren't as sht, go figure. Convincing fans it's not worth going to games during the season leading to apathy of attendance in the finals is the real problem. Though it seems to be restricted to Sydney apathy on the whole.

Don't worry everyone, Todd “I wouldn’t describe myself as a visionary, nor do I think I’m a guy with all the ideas" Greenberg will fix this for us

Fan loyalty and commitment has been toyed with. For example the continued practice of changing player jumper strips throughout the season weakens recognition of a club. It all adds up. Identifying a club for someone new to the game becomes confusing. Other factors are at play but the weakening of rugby league in the city of Sydney has been happening for some time now and superleague and poor administrators have their role in this great games demise. It can be fixed but depends if they really want to fix it!

No, failure to grow interest in the game and attract new fans in Sydney is the problem. Clubs that have gone out to do that are travelling ok, attendances are down, tv audiences are down, player regos in men are down. The interest in the game has dropped since the commission took over. They have to be held accountable for this.

Then throw in that some Sydney clubs (inc three of the five in this years finals) are small outer suburb teams with limited catchments and population appeal and you've got a double whammy. Sharks, manly and Penrith are three of the games lowest fanbase clubs and that has been reflected in finals attendances.

Why is Melbourne's crowd of 22k considered par but roosters crowd of 21k against out of town opposition not?

Once again the roosters fans showing the rest of sydney the way. 20k roosters fans turned up as opposed to 7.5k manly and panthers fans.

To be fair to cronulla they were in the same situation as us in terms of hosting an interstate team.

Eels crowd will be interesting next week..

Roosters and storm were fine if not outstanding. The sharks game was meh, but it's the sharks who have few fans and the nrl seem content to keep these little clubs in the comp, The big dissapointment was Penrith and manly. Seriously two Sydney clubs couldn't bring 10k fans each to a finals knock out game? That is sht house.
