Sydney is the home of the Grand Final and there will be 80,000 in attendance, despite 2 teams that have zero support in Sydney.
The day that the Grand Final is moved from Sydney is the day that RL will be lost.

Walking around Sydney city today you wouldn't know there was a GF on tomorrow. Only indication I've seen is some Storm tshirts in lowes window and bumping into JT in opera bar last night lol.
I can see why nrl isnt as popular as we would like in Sydney if this level of indifference is the norm for the game here. Maybe just complacency as no risk of them Losing it to another city?

Half way through your post i was going to say complacency was the problem...

Once we do get into a rotating schedule, we will see how good it can be in Brissy/NZ and the scarcity will help get Sydney excited again.

Sydney is saturated with RL content, is it any surprise they dont get excited? They are so f*cking complacent that it will always be there

That’s because there is no Sydney team in the grand final. Everyone was banking on the Eels making the grand final so they could follow them. Then to a much lesser extent the Roosters but they both lost so everyone is sulking now. This time last year the shire in Sydney was going off.. Had you arrived a couple of days ago Luna Park was rocking all day with nrl players and fans.

Its a global city.. the only one in country.. the rest of the capitals are just big country towns.. with one major metropolis..

What does Downtown london feel like the day before the FA cup final

its every bit as popular as we think it is , even with tv ratings down this year RL is still the most popular sport to watch with daying 2nd in Sydney
1 million of them will watch this game tomorrow night , theres only 1 or 2 other programs that will do that other then RL. & RL can count 3 other million plus TV audiences in Sydney each year as well with origin.
so... not as popular as we'd like to think ?
I ... think not.

Rugby league is still popular. However it has been neglected in many areas including junior development , marketing and genuine expansion (not reducing Sydney clubs and adding other area clubs ). Their are concerning signs and they require addressing. The actual footy has been excellent and credit goes to the players involved. But yes , a great game/sport with some fundamental issues behind the scenes.

This is probably the least hyped GF I've ever seen & it's to do with lack of a Sydney team no doubt

Yet we'll still see a sold out crowd & enormous tv figures in Melbourne, NSW & QLD

It's very hyped up in Brisbane, media has been going stupid over it.

News Ltd prattle on about no Sydney team in gf like it's a bad thing, then wonder why people are subdued.

Personally, I know plenty of people who can't wait for tonight, all in Sydney.

Then there's the Melbourne /Vic fans and Qld fans with those in Adelaide and NT and Canberra and Newcastle and Wollongong and all those other regional areas.

Then there's NZ and English RL fans. And let's not forget PNG.

So yeah. Might be subdued but people will still be watching in large numbers.

I didn't right the story canard just posting it

You certainly didn't "right" it.

Mate, what I was trying to point out is the last 3 pages of this thread were a response to someone else posting the article the day before you did.
