Well it's flogging down here again
The joint is soaked to the bone
Can't imagine there will be much of a crowd roll up tonight.
We will be very lucky to crack 10k even with it being the derby...if it is still raining.
And it's blowing a hundred bastards from the east /Sou east...ugliest wind of all.

we have a day , twilight & night game on saturdays most weeks
not 2 day & one night
or with some explanations .. 3 day games !!

the time the sun sets can be irrelevant in some cases

Here ya go

One way to figure the start and end times for morning, afternoon, evening and night is to use the meteorological time, which must agree worldwide for forecasting. Meteorologists consider morning to be from 6 a.m. to 12 p.m. Afternoon lasts from 12 p.m. to 6 p.m. Evening runs from 6 p.m. to midnight. Overnight lasts from midnight to 6 a.m.

Ave going to be about 12.5k this round

We are far enough behind last year now to basically say crowds will be in decline this year

With a 6pm game and Thursday nights we won't be able to claw back this gap

Pretty sure the weather was perfect last year too.
I was away week two at pearl beach and the it was awesome weather.
This year has been dire.
You get soaked running from the house to the car.

This weather has been diabolical. There have been a few lives lost due to flood waters across the east coast of NSW

anyone who thinks this isn't a factor re: Sydney crowds these past couple weeks haven't got half a brain cell

The other day I couldn't even drive to work due to road closure bc of flooding

And yes this all starts to happen as soon as footy season starts lol

The sun has literally been out maybe once or twice these past 3 weeks

I guess we will know how much the weather has impacted crowds next year or the year after when there is good weather.

Does the shit weather also explain the average to ratings in Sydney this year?

No doubt the weather has played a big impact but it's only been a few weeks. If the weather is at fault we should see crowds bounce back strongly.

When your starting from a low base of around 15-16k then the half to a third who won't show up when it's raining means a dire crowd of 10k if lucky.

Went to the motor racing in the rain last night, was great. Rain coat, umbrella, stand with a roof, rain didn't stop play.

It goes a little beyond "raining"

Flash flooding has been the norm around the east coast of NSW this past couple weeks, with road closures etc

Good work Newcastle fans, the most loyal in the league. Looks like there's a few people in the stands in Penrith but hills are sparse for obvious reasons. I do like how penrith have a few stands in there GA ticketing.

At the game looking around I thought there was less than the week before. But good crowd, helps playing a Sydney team and not an interstate team.

The BOM was predicting something like 100-200mm rain across the region Saturday so no wonder some stayed away. Would have got 20k to it if it was no chance of rain.

I wonder if crowds and TV would go up if teams played more like that contract football that Ipswich play or that passing game that Castleford Tigers play?

Yes I went and watched the Albany classic instead of one of the nrl at nib games last year in protest at the nrl's continuing inaction on expansion. Brilliant weekend.
