Do they still give junior players a free season pass? I remember when I was in high school I went to every single Broncos game with about 5 or 6 of my mates no matter who they were playing - and I hated the Broncos (so I just cheered for the opposition each week).

It helped that at QE2 (the Broncos stadium at the time) you could just go through the gates and give your pass to a mate on the outside through the fence.

That's good, that really helps breed the idea of attending matches. Although on the flip side, when you've always had something for free, it's hard to justify paying for it I guess, but at least people have had their love of the game enhanced in their formative years.

Those old player passes must have been amazing if you lived in Sydney, I never thought about the fact you could go to 3 or 4 games a week for free if you wanted.

The rep round has had bigger all build up as usual. Expect crowds and TV ratings to disappoint and continue he self fulfilling prophecy that no one cares about International rugby league.

Meanwhile we'll spend months hyping up SOO (even before the comp starts) and give it incredible amounts of marketing whilst neglecting every other level of the game. Then we wonder why it's so much more hyped then everything else.

It is crazy that there is no NRL action on this weekend. It should be week 1 of the mid season Nines competition. Weeks 2,3 and 4 should be during the SoO break.

You can blame the pricing and the marketing for last night's attendance, not Canberra.

At $30 for the cheapest ticket and the majority of the tickets at $60 each the NRL priced a third of the people interested out of going. For the same price I could buy a ticket to each of Canberras' world cup games.
And as always with any games apart from SOO and the finals, the complete lack of marketing for the game really hurt sales as well.

Also what was the point of having it as a double header with the womans game if the Jillaroos game started so early that most people couldn't make it anyway cause they had work.

It's very harsh to blame Canberra for last nights attendance.

TV viewers will tell the story. The game had practically no decent marketing or hype behind it. The people running the game and the rugby league media are barely able to show any interest in it either (or even outright distain for international RL). Most fans seem to just view this as a week off from the NRL.

Can't blame fans for not being enthusiastic about the match when the people running the game make it seem like a nothing event.

People can keep blaming certain cities like Sydney for poor attendances but the problem stems from the people running the game and in general the people involved in the game.

To be honest I was expecting more then the 18,535 in Canberra last night. Could be that it was a little chilly. Maybe tickets were too pricey. Also could be it wasn't hyped enough to entice more fans. Though, it wouldn't surprise if footy fans care little for test football.

If you are going to play an ANZAC test, play it on ANZAC Day or very close to it, not 10 days later.

The crowd was disappointing, but it's hard to be too critical considering what a snooze fest the game turned out to be....

My local pub's sports bar which is normally packed on Friday night with NRL watchers was a ghost down last evening...

It frustrates the heck out of me that NZ (and the Warriors as well for that matter) can't be more consistent on the field ....the talent on paper at least appears to be there...

The Anzac Test can't move forward and capture the public's imagination until it proves to be a more competitive contest...doesn't matter where you play it...
