Hope not. The vertical stripes have a more timeless look to them than the original jersey. A one-off heritage jersey is fine but its time as a primary jersey has long gone.

100% disagree. The vertical stripes have come to represent failure.

The men's jersey-

That looks so much f*cking better than the cut off...

Theyve obviously had to make the V shallower which moves it away from the classic design, but easily a price worth paying.

We can 100% agree on that. I was talking from an aesthetic point of view though.

The red and green hoops of Souths were associated with garbage form in the early-mid 200's but they've turned that perception around to be associated with a solid 9th-12th side these days.

lol. Try one. The other 15 were won by a club that no longer exists.

Keep telling yourself that. The Illawarra was a feeder area for St George back when the other 15 premierships were won. There are even newspaper clippings calling St George the "Illawarramen" back before they were known as the Dragon-slayers.

NIB have moved up to being the Newcastle Knights major sponsor. I notice the jersey is also more inline with the 1997 jersey than in recent years (most likely due to this being an anniversary year for the club). The sleeves have hoops again, and the collar thing is white again. I don't particularly like the white there, as I thought last year's red one was MUCH better, however the 1997-2000 jersey that this represents did in fact have a white collar, so it's more accurate unfortunately!

As great as it is to see a Newcastle company front and centre of the Newcastle jersey, geez it's a big green box. Green overload ... especially with that green Huntley sponsorship between the NRL and Knights logos.

Sleeve sponsors aren't yet announced. Should we not have any, I'd like to see them have a charity on there like they had at the start of 2011 with the local Ronald McDonald House.

Knights have moved newpave to the back of the 2017 jersey with nib (previously sleeve) taking over on the front.

Huntlee on the mid-chest have a new green box around their logo.

Edit: snap @Nuke!

Red collar does look better but the closer representation of the 1997 GF is a good reason to not have it. Wish nib went with plain white text on the jersey, bit of a shame really.

Even a green outline around the NIB text would have been ok

I know sponsors pay big $ for the rights but all efforts to integrate sponsorships seems to have gone right out the door. It's a shit look and will no doubt effect jersey sales imo

Why? Cause they have won a couple of spoons?

Souths have gotten far more spoons in their "Coachwood and Myrtle" hoops but still persist with them cause its iconic. The Knights seem to think the same way thank god

The verticle strips will always mean the below to me and i think the majority of Knights fans will feel the same

There's also the fact that certain styles just don't suit modern jerseys, being a lot tighter and with more real estate for sponsor logos.

Anything that has narrow and strongly contrasting stripes around the lower chest area has to be manipulated to fit sponsors in. You see this with V style jerseys as well. Nib should have went the Stockland route.

It would be cool if the Knights do the chequerboard shorts, very unique in RL.

With the cowboys, their home jersey would look better if the Toyota logo was blue instead of red. Also think they would all look better if they used the Logo they way they do on the Nines jersey.
