No excuses. Now I wonder which club literally live and breath that mantra.
Then there is Parra...us. There is almost always some reason for our losses, especially the ones that we were meant to win.
In this case, the refs were crap and against us and also the fact that these poor dolls are just plain to young and having expectation is just folly on our behalf.
Then there is the Storm. No excuses. If you have an excuse in you then go play for another club. There is no outs if you play for the Storm. They interrogate every individual on every mistake. Why did you drop that ball, why did you give that penalty there, why did you not dive on that loose ball, how come you ran into that tackle like a marshmello coming off our line for the 3rd time in this game, why were you so slow as the A or B defender, why did you take so long to get off the deck and in doing so left us vulnerable, why did you think that you could solve that defensive play all on your own, what were you thinking when you placed that kick there, why did you choose that kick and so forth.
Every minute aspect of play no matter how big or small is scrutinized by the coach and staff and every player is made fully aware that lack of effort and loss of concentration is being constantly monitored and will not be tolerated. Even Ado-Car's post try celebrations were viewed as not desirable and reigned in.
Mobile phones were banned at team get together's and $50 fines introduced. All on field and off field behaviour and attitude is monitored. If you can't seem to adjust to this strict protocol then they slowly and quietly weed you out.
Now this club has had 32 years of failure of varying levels, but definitely no 1st grade titles. And when we look back on 99% of those years where we had a genuine shot at winning the title, what would most of us non biased supporters say was the main contributing factor in the never ending capitulation? I would say mental toughness, which manifests itself in dropped ball, penalties and wrong options at the wrong time or even not turning up on the day itself like in 2005.
That can all be attributed to the recruiting and retention of players and coaches that don't fit into that no excuses mantra that the Storm have perfected. Excuses start early. Give a player a whiff of an excuse and he will take it every time.
Sorry...I like the no excuses model. It delivers premierships, where as all a lot of you guys do is self medicate on excuses.
Now I know that what we the supporters think and say doesn't amount to even one bean let along a hill of beans as to the way the club is run and coached. But to read some of your excuse riddled dribble as to why we have lost this or that game at times is beyond a joke.
We have long run out of excuses. I don't care who the player/players are, if they are failing when it matters, you know, when we are favourites or under pressure in big games then get rid of them.
No excuses.
