I don't understand why they have taken so many games away? from what I could find Robina Stadium is only being used for Rugby Sevens and thats only on from the 13th to 16th?

They should of stayed at home and with some good marketing gotten some of the comm games crowd to attend, could of worked with the games to have it as a kind of "exhibition match", they'd surely get a larger crowd than usual and also potentially introduce the game to a lot of new people
Probably got to do with comm game sponsorship all over the ground that can't be switched back to titans sponsorship then back again.

Well reports are saying over 7K have been sold and expecting around 8K for today’s game in Glady. Capacity of the ground various between 4K-6k.

They may not have had a choice, they’re not the stadium owners after all.
I'm not sure what the Commonwealth Games mandate, but I can assure you that during the FIFA World Cup there are certain rules around the use of venues in the area for other elite sports at the same time - hence there was such a big deal about RL and AFL and how they'd be treated if the great 'Australia hosting the World Cup' myth happened.

Also worth remembering the NRL and AFL moved their 2000 seasons a month earlier to accommodate the Sydney Olympics. Seems like standard practice?

Would the crowd really have been that much bigger at the other venue? Game only sold out the day before. Eden Park would have sold, what, another 5k tickets?

IMO full house at Mt Smart is better than a 60% full Eden Park, for fans at the ground as well as the broadcast.

crowds at Eden park have been pretty good in the past , its a popular venue with Aucklanders while Mt Smart , not so much , the first sellout there in 8 years or something
I'd suggest it would have got over 40K at the bigger venue

DH's don't work in grounds with a limited capacity

I think it's great that we are taking so many games out and about but we need to be more strategic about it.

How about:
- we save these games for when there is a traditional downturn (eg Origin period) Commonwealth games aside.
- each team has 11 home games and takes one game to a regional or expansion area
- there are 2 regional rounds where all 16 sides take a game away
- some minimum standards are put in place. Eg a 12k capacity or something like that. Work with venues that need help to meet it.

Mt smart sold out for the wc semi last year. i doubt it would have attracted 40k yesterday and Eden park is "popular" because it's the premier stadium in the city not because it's a great stadium. It's bound to have the biggest crowds in the city because the unholy vortex of boredom plays their big games there.

It was a suns home game, it was an extra cost to Freo fans who’ve already paid $400 plus for memberships.
33k is a bad crowd for a suns game? Nice that nrl beat an afl game in Perth but let’s not get over excited lol.
Take the league crowd comparison out it's irrelevant but honestly 33k when we're told how many thousands were on waiting lists to buy season tix?

How’d the NRL approve this as a venue?!

I’m all for taking games to the bush, and understand the Titans circumstances, but couldn’t we at least find a ground where you can have people viewing on all sides?

We need better standards than this.

Agree on a lot of your points, but obviously today needed to be at this time of year due to the comm games.

The ground today shouldn’t have been approved for an NRL game.

I only saw the last 6 mins when I got home from work and couldn’t believe the NRL approved the venue when I saw the ground. Thought the field goaL attempt at the end was going to go straight through the glass window behind the in goal area.

Coffs harbour should get a run.. during this comm games hiatius

Northern NSW and QLD doesn't work as an identity. It's all nice and well to think the proximity would work in their favour but I find people from Northern NSW hate shit out of Queensland more than they hate Sydney! Look at the reception Inglis got from primary schoolers all those years ago lol.

There's a shitload of nice little grounds in QLD. Kawana, Browne Park, Mackay etc*, Hell, how good would an NRL game be at Dolphin Oval?
