Yeah, and we don't allow that in any other threads so stop it, alright?Nah, all it actually does is just obstructs genuine discussion in this thread
A few things about tonight's crowd.
- those doubting the figure... the camera side (the one you can't see on TV) was fairly packed. Easily 15k there.
- Last year on a Thursday night at ANZ these two only got 10.5k.
59,000... jesus, talk about apples and oranges.
Five years ago.
In Round 26.
With both sides well in finals contention.
SBW & Inglis in their heyday, Reynolds at the top of his game etc etc
I don't think tonight was a great crowd but trying to put it anywhere near against the most unrealistic outlier there is... dumb stuff.
No embarrassing is putting this game on a Thursday night, same as the GF replay.Embarrassing

I agree. It certainly does feel like there are less away fans at chooks games by that just might be down to recent form of teams like souffs snd dogs. I thought last night was respectable considering the Thursday slot.pretty shitty crowd. NRL butchers rivalry games by sticking them on Thursday nights.
On that note - Anyone else think that 'away' fans are turning up a lot less than a few years ago? Hard to judge from anecdotal evidence but it feels like it. Our games v Dogs and Souths at the SFS used to consistently pull over 20k, leading to claims that away fans outnumbered us. But it's been a long time since they've shown up in numbers anywhere near that.
Not just Roosters games either, I get around to a fair few neutral games and its rare to see more than a scattering of away fans.
Is it the rise of memberships - people sticking to their pre-paid games?
The shitty timeslots the NRL constantly puts derby games in?

I think the relevance of mentioning the 60000 crowd from 2013 is that it shows the fans are there and if appealing enough will come to games. The nrl and clubs need to tap into it. They have failed dismally so far.
(i) Pre-paid games, and, (ii) Pay TV / live streaming.pretty shitty crowd. NRL butchers rivalry games by sticking them on Thursday nights.

Whatever the crowd is at The Gong tonight it really should be 5,000 more. Cronulla fans are very fickle and don't travel even though Cronulla is closer to Wollongong than Kogarah.
You misunderstood.??
It is like 4 times the distance.
It probably takes near on as long to get to Kogarah from Cronulla in shit traffic but that is another story.
You misunderstood.
Kogarah to Wollongong is a longer distance than Cronulla to Wollongong - hence why the crowd should be 5,000 more but the Cronulla fans are too lazy to travel. They'll probably watch the game at Northies pissing in their mouths, etc.
