There was! Definitely enough to not say it was jampacked! When I see no grass its jampacked. In fact I'll go a bit further and refer to what the eastern hill and end hills had in the late 80s &90s in Newcastle. Standing room only. Now that's what I call packed and a full house!
Well...that’s...just....like your opinion man.

Has Gelding ever heard of OH&S! Or is he still living in the past! Is he aware that they cap attendances for a reason! Or would he like to see his beloved kids crushed on the grassy knoll!

2011 is still regarded as recently!
It's capacity is 20000! Only a touch over 8000 showed up!

I may have got the ground wrong. Absolutely certain a recent City v Country game down that way had standing room only. Tickets were only $10 and the locals appreciated the gesture with a genuine sellout.

Good crowd for a country town and probably close to legal capacity. They can’t pack them in these days like they used to 30 years ago.

The NRL are punishing the teams/games that get good crowds by giving them the shitty time slots.
Newcastle would be close to full if played on a Sunday arvo, but because they can still get 20k+ at 6 on a Friday, they get that game so the NRL save face.
Same goes with Sharks v Dragons and the Storm v Cowboys copping Thursday.
Pretty sure Rounds 2 and 3 will destroy Trollian’s theory that 6pm Friday can work.

Friday 6pm games are for most of the season. And the comment is more based on travel time friendly areas like regional city capitals such as Newcastle more than anything else. If you can stick to the context it might help!?

Local derby 2018
Sharks v dragons
Thursday night for probably our biggest drawing game of the year

Then the return derby in Wollongong 8pm on a Friday night.

The NRL are f**king idiots.

Let’s play all 8 games at 4pm Sunday every weekend so there would be no reason to complain, whinge, bitch or moan.

Think Saturday games are proving popular as well . But as we know it's set up for live tv telecasts. But better allocation of designated games can help regardless.

Interestingly in soccer the German Bundesliga has decided to schedule Monday night games and the fans have protested big time !

Bundesliga has probably decided they need to up their income massively. I think the relegated EPL sides recieve more TV money than the bundesliga winners do in a country with a larger population and less competing sports. But the EPL embraced games between Saturday and Wednesday a long time ago.
