Compared to other football codes I'm a firm believer the code of rugby league should be at least placed 2nd in so far as worldwide participation and support or perhaps rivaling soccer. However a number of factors including the repression of this code courtesy of union, has inhibited it's destiny as a universally appealing and known football code. Some sports can be more deserving (like rugby league )but have cultural barriers limiting their market reach. You being a rugby league supporter on a rugby league website would be a believer in this code? Surely? Unless you are not?

I love the sport and it is my favourite but that doesn't mean i believe it has an inherent right to be the most popular in the world.

Anyways, i was more referring to your assertion that the NRL "deserves more" in terms of crowds. If it deserved more it would get more and the NRL can start by improving scheduling, pricing and location.

That'd be in line with their average over their 37 seasons wouldn't it?
Do you guys need a new stadium to boost your attendance or is it due to form?

eh
the Titans are the low mark for most clubs home crowds
coupled with our indifferent form & the KO time
( people are doing all manor of things at 3pm on a saturday )
11K is more then ok
countering that tho , was the perfect weather conditions , like it was awesome
18c & not a breath of breeze
so it could have been marginally better
so no , we have an excellent facility with probably the best surface in the comp & it is patronised well above its weight
compare that to that pile of dingo puke Brookvale or some other venues & we're sweet thanks : )

You answered your question for me. I'm glad you love the sport. It is, in the big scheme of things, internationally, on an unfair "playing field ". The NRL has been subject to an extremely divisive attack on its credibility and supporter base courtesy of the Superleague fiasco. So using this as an example that in itself set the code back at least 20 years. From 20 top flight clubs and an aggressive outlook to drastically reducing club numbers and confidence in the code does not progress the code. Yes, the code of rugby league deserves better!

Good to see the code has such top notch supporters. My word it's in good hands if you numbnuts have a say! Fancy not highly rating your own code! Amazing! Shame on you.

We are RL fans first and foremost.
We're just not delusional.

Anyway, the Bears had a draw today against Newtown.
NRL bound for sure.
That'll bring the crowds back.

They aren't the best draw card at away games but last year they averaged 15k at away games. Aside from last year you have to go back to the early 90's to see Canberra in the upper half of attendance, most years their in the bottom 3-4 sides.
Also regardless of time slot there is always other things to take up people's time. Didn't the raiders want more day games? What's the clubs preferred time slot?

Pathetic weak response! The code deserves better than what some of you lot are coming up with.

2pm Sundays probably
& the early 90's .. yeah , weve had no success since then so why would that be a surprise dummy ?

as for the Titans averaging 15K last year
don't suppose the 35K against the broncos helped hey

LOL
