Gotta be honest.

All week we worried weather the Dragons fans would show.

Looks like we worried about the wrong fan base.

60% Dragons at the ground last night.

48k for the worlds biggest supporter base and they think we should move to ANZ next week if they make it.
Most fans there last night were Souths fans, we have the biggest supporter base. I personally think Allianz would be better, because 1. Roosters earned it, 2. last time we played a prelim at ANZ (2014) there were only 52k, and 3 Allianz is actually near the cbd, not an industrial area like at anz.

It's well known that most Melbourne Storm supporters live in the outer suburbs of Melbourne.

All you have to do is look at where the local Rugby League teams are in Melbourne (in particular the junior ones)--- they are all in outer suburbs like Sunbury, Werribee, Pakenham, Cragieburn, Cranbourne, etc.

You really can't compare Sydney and Melbourne re transport, stadium locations.

Remember Storm stadium is the home base, where all their local NRL games are played.

The SFS is as much a home base for Sharks and Penrith, as Norfolk Island is to Sydney. And yes ,All their junior clubs are in their locality ,not at the SFS.
Direct railway lines near Storm and the G also, make a difference.
I repeat, playing the Friday night pairing on a Saturday night or Sunday afternoon would have made a hell of a difference re crowds.
Whilst Sydney continues to suffer from traffic and road issues, has a far bigger geographical spread than Melbourne,we will continue to have crowd issues.Scheduling appears to be the one factor that can help.
Long term transport infrastructure.

Should play Melbourne v Cronulla on Saturday to avoid Richmond v collywobbles. Dumb nrl administrators.

Can't argue with someone who thinks that the 35km (from Cronulla) or 65km (from Penrith) to SFS is the same as the 1,673km from Sydney to Norfolk Island.

You're right Taipan-- Sydney currently isn't a city that is capable of sustaining teams that are basically 'local' clubs playing in a National league. Should definitely centralise all the teams (let's say 4-- two that play out of SFS & two that play out of ANZ) and move the rest of them to other parts of Australia so the NRL becomes an actual National league rather than the East Coast Rugby League.

Just drawing a comparison between a home base and a non home base for fans.Extreme comparison agree, but it may as well be the case for families on a Friday night.

Bit like Melbourne being sustained then, the Storm originally losing money hands over foot, relying on News and then private investors now with NRL grants. At least Penrith and the Sharks get acknowledged in the Sydney media ,on a regular basis. That doesn't mean the Storm isn't a necessity now, it is.
Get your crowds to average 20,000 -25,000 minimum in a city of 5m, then you can have a shot at the Sydney clubs, with bigger junior bases and lesser facilities.

Too late for 4 teams, the SL saw to that. You"re going to flick 5 teams, how much leg up do you want to give the AFL in Sydney? How much less will the Tv ratings in Sydney drop and impact Tv deals? Good luck with that. 4 NRL teams in Sydney and two AFL teams,Gil says thanks a lotta.
The NRL in Sydney is made up of localised clubs ,just like Melbourne a scoop Slater1.

By all means have Perth and Adelaide added.NRL should have 18 teams in National Comp..Sydney has already been rationalised more so than Melbourne .Nth Sydney gone,Tigers and Wests merged,Illawarra and St George merged: 5 teams affected.

For a start WSS stadium is central for the likes of Parramatta and Penrith, and the Tigers.Good luck with Manly playing at the SFS,ditto St George and ditto Sharks owning their ground.

Souths and Dogs at a refurbished ANZ .Roosters at the SFS,Sydney FC and the Tahs.

Tom Brady does not get Millions for the packed stadiums they have.

TV executives fight over who can give him more.

NSW fanbases

Please.....Get your asses in order when it comes to attendance. It is a shocking look for the code.

Try a social media movement, passing out fliers on the f**king street corner, ANYTHING.

Nrl isn’t as bad as the super rugby when it comes to crowds. Let’s celebrate the fact we are second best.

It doesn't have to be an either or situation. The AFL smashed us in the ratings on Friday night and still managed to have 90K at the game.

amazing that those fumbleballers can get over 90k to a game and still get top billin on the TV ratings,
I think the same thing happened last night with the GWS game
