Not often that I stick up for Sydney lol, but it’s not like non Sydney clubs are bulging at the seams to fit fans in! This crowd problem is throughout the game, not just in Sydney. We only have one of 16 clubs avg over 20k regularly, that’s not good enough.

Even if perth came in we’d probably only, hopefully!, be around 16k I reckon.

The game needs to better promoted and more attractive to attend. We’ve seen with big bash you can play the game at any time and get big crowds IF it is an event the public want to go to. We e seen with western force you can play games with little meaning and draw a crowd if pricing and game experience is good.

Nrl needs to work with the clubs to put a plan in place. Relying on just new stadiums to do the job is going to end in further dissapointment.

Wow, I'm going to agree with Perth Red, it is a game wide problem. I actually believe it has a lot to do with how well the game transfers to television. The action in Rugby League is 95% of the time directly around the ball so close in shots work incredible well. For the general fan you are not going to miss key elements of the game while watching on tv. That is not the case in other sports, I would think Basketball would be similar in this.

have we ever hosted another top 4 opponent whilst in the top 4 ourselves in the NRL era ?
only once ...

we got 23,700 in the year 2000 against the Roosters on a freezing sleeting Sunday afternoon in July
they were 3rd , we were 2nd
I was there , it was horrendously cold
turn on ysterdays conditions then , & whateva GIO holds , we would have got

anything else I can help you with ?

Wasn't that Daley's last home game for Canberra? It's fair to say that there was added incentive to be at that one.

You can't just say that something would happen "if this if that" without any evidence or precedence just because you would like to think it is the case.

If you are saying that in the 18 years since that game that the Canberra fans have had no reason to fill the (modest) joint in a regular season game then possibly Canberra isn't the place for a rugby league team.

I think that's bullshit

NFL is a line of scimage most of time

And average 75,000 a game

The game needs f**king atmosphere..that's all
Crowds build crowds

We just don't know how to start

Massive stadiums make it almost impossible

Round 23 of 2000, Sunday 9 July 2000 at Bruce Stadium, Canberra Raiders v Sydney Roosters was Laurie Daley's last regular season home game for the Raiders. Weather was horrendous as it was cold and wet, but it was a big crowd as they had celebrations for Laurie's last Raiders home game. I can confirm it as I was there.

Except the wide receivers are down the field running routes that you often cannot see unless at the game.

A population of 300 million helps the NFL as well.

As I said in my original post there’s heaps of new housing going up there so what happened 20 years ago isn’t that relevant.
of course it is, nothing has changed in the 30 years Wests have been there. Those new people are coming in with teams already or other sports.
