The NRL is up the NSW State Government to improve small suburban grounds because we have small crowds and it's "not a good look for television" and then they f**king put games on a Thursday, at 6pm on a Friday and 6 f**king 30 on a Sunday

Seriously, a Sharks V Dragons local derby on a Thursday night. That's a crowd drop of 7-8,000 for starters.
Surely the NRL dumbos could have made derbies at least preferences on decent times lots to maximise crowds.
If I had my way I'd be telling News/Slothfield and the 6pm Friday time slot to f*ck off well and truly. As useful as a tube of shaving cream ,in a hurricane.

Will still get 15k+

Don't understand the people who thought 6pm Friday would go, its in the contract...

Also don't understand why people get so upset they play a team twice early or late. Who cares?

Surprise surprise, NRL having control of the draw means sweet f**k all when they're still building the draw to satisfy broadcasters.
Another empty promise

I have noticed that they have games at ANZ on weekends cos last year they had heaps of games on thursdays at ANZ and it was embarrassing. Yet we play cowboys at Leichardt on a thursday and penrith on thursday. So im guessing they are experimenting with putting games at the big stadiums on Saturday and Sunday.

Tigers pretty much played either friday/sunday last year. Next season 4 thursday games and a lot more saturdays due to double headers and taking games to small country towns like Tamworth and Auckland.

We get 5 FTA games instead of 4. Whoopdy-f**king-do.

The myth that the NRL controlling the draw will mean a fairer draw has been well and truly debunked.

Actually, are 9 doing the Saturday 7:30 game full time now? If so that changes things quite a bit.

Can't find one now - it was reported in the newspaper (SMH) last week that the NRL had requested additional funding for Suburban grounds and had been rejected

The article stated that the NRL had said the crowd numbers in large stadiums were not a "good look" on TV.

I’m mostly interested in when games are on. Next season is a big improvement on 2017.

I don't know how you can suggest that this clash is incredibly likely (basically a 'lock') because the AFL isn't going to be worried about Storm at AAMI Park as it doesn't negatively impact their game, but it does negatively impact the NRL and it's supporters (as evidenced by the Crowd Watch thread) because playing the Storm/Cowboys up against Richmond/Carlton will mean less supporters (both at the ground and on the TV) watching that game.
Perhaps you chose not to read my post. I merely indicated it's not locked in because the AFL Draw isn't out. Hell, Round 1 hasn't even leaked yet as it normally would a week out from the fixture release.

I agree that it's likely but I think we should cross that bridge when we come to it, it's not going to change the NRL Draw.

This year, five teams had 10+ games in FTA slots

Next year, 11 teams will play 10+ games in FTA slots.

So it's actually true, it hasn't been debunked. Just that your team didn't get the big increase.

And no, the Sat night games are only the final five rounds - Raiders have none of those.

Fair enough, there was ones about a month ago where is was reported that 9 and fox wanted it because it wasn't a good look. Comments on facebook were all about them putting it a fan friendly times then.

Never saw the NRL version of it.

Yeah pretty sure it was only 9 and Fox that mentioned it. Nothing from the NRL

Every team should be treated fairly.

The NRL have once again shown their utter disdain for Canberra and Newcastle.

If it’s not Sydney or Brisbane, the NRL don’t give a f**k.

What an incompetent bunch of merkins.

If there's one thing I'd like to see in 2018 it's Melbourne pioneering what has been massive in U.S. sports for years; The St. Patrick's Day jersey.

Storm vs. Tigers. 17/3/18

My first post.
I'm peed off.The NRL draw has the dragons roosters Anzac day game at Allianz at 7pm and the melb game at 4.10pm.
This game has always been in the afternoon.
Hope its just a typo error or else there will be a lot smaller crowd there.Ive been to almost every one of them over the last 10 years but wont be there at that time next year.
Cheers all
