Thursday nights are out.
Friday at 6pm is out.
Sunday night is out.
Monday night is out.
Saturdays there's kids sport.

When do you merkins want to f**king play games? Sunday afternoon before uncle Terry visits but not before bunnings shuts? Saturday nights but only if it's next door or I'm driven to the game by Arthur f**king Summons?

I say it every year, once again Nein (the self-titled Home of Rugby League - does anyone believe this besides their PR dept?) could have done an hour long show in prime time going through the draw club by club, highlighting the good and bad bits.

Typically, Rupert’s minions kept the reporting to a minimum (sick of hearing Paul White gush on about the Broncos finally getting some Sunday games but that was the only story I saw). I presume there was a media conference with the Turd waffling on but I only saw footage of him being interviewed outside NRL Central.

As others have said, the fumblers do it so much better keeping their game in the news. The NRL are rank amateurs, barely more than a rabble.

After all our hopes for the ARLC since 2012...Sigh.
Oh dear
Here's some news for you p.
We have plenty of other things to televise...that keep fans interested
Such as RLWC.

We don't need to televise a draw ..Jesus wept.
Fumblers do because they have nothing else
NOTHING .
No rep games for AFL
Nothing ..
We have plenty

You were right twice
Based on people going to games.
Sunday 6pm kick off is not undoable but is just a dumb idea
Saturday kick off at 5.30pm has no impact on any kids sports I’ve been to.
Friday 6pm doesn’t bother me at all...but can be tough for people to make it by kick off.
Only an idiot can’t see that.

Thursday 8 pm is geniused
Monday is even more geniused.

The draw I have from the Drags states 4:10pm

As Horrie pointed out (and I can confirm after having a look), the HTML page for Round 8 on the NRL's website has the Dragons v Roosters game starting at 7 pm, with the Storm v Warriors game at 4.10 pm, whilst the downloadable PDF of the entire draw from the NRL's website has the Dragons v Roosters match at 4.10 pm with the Storm v Warriors at 7 pm. I'd say it is a case of an error in one of them, and based on history, it is more likely to be the HTML one that is incorrect.

I've sent an e-mail to the NRL pointing this discrepancy on their website out and suggest they fix it, so hopefully it will be rectified soon.

Holding ANY game on a Thursday Night
Thursday Nights are a stupid idea - so are Friday's at 6pm and Sundays at 6.30pm

SUNDAY at 6.30pm round 3 - Roosters v Newcastle
Seriously, do the NRL hate Newcastle so much they want to f**king bury them?

This is the week before Easter - there is no Public Holiday on the Monday

That is a f**king awful decision - may as well be a Thursday or a Monday

SUNDAY NIGHT IS A SCHOOL NIGHT YOU STUPID f**kING merkinS
Sunday 6:30pm is a solution brought about by clubs (and fans for that matter) complaining about matches being played in stifling heat in March when DST hasn't ended and temps are still quite warm. 2pm games take over from April.

I dare say there are a few Sunday night games early in the season because in NSW it is daylight savings until 1 April 2018, and also in case it is still hot at that time of year. Don't forget we've had some very hot months of March in recent years, so I suggest they are taking that into account for player welfare reasons more than anything. It may not be ideal, but I can see why it has been done.

Its geniused in respect of getting another 7-8K to the game ( that's on average what we are talking about right?? a 7-8K crowd against a 14-15K crowd), but obviously this is weighed up against the extra gazillions bought into the game via TV money to broadcast these games.

I'm not a fan of the Friday 6pm slot by any means, but what would replace it? Sunday 6pm is the only slot I can see to ensure that there is no crossover of games being played a the same time...

broncos got 12 thurs/friday night games....still way more than anybody else, don't let a couple of sunday games thrown in cover up the biggest scam in the comp
So whats the scam.. Isn't Thursday night the shit slot that no one wants, along with Friday 6pm. I would have thought the thing the makes a good or bad draw for any team is who you have to play twice, how many 5day, 6day, 7day turnarounds you get, For Sydney teams, how often you have to travel outside of Sydney for a game, etc etc. All people seem to whinge about is FTA coverage, which in football sense is probably way down the list for a coach behind opposition, recovery time, and travel. So is it a good football draw, but not good for tv, or is it a good tv draw that f**ks teams preparation around.

FTA is exposure = corporate sponsorships and increase revenue... What it all comes down to at the end of the day

The NRL have to look wholistically at the whole draw, and I get that teams are going to get some shit timeslots on occasions. But FMD I dont think whoever came up with that draw had any real idea on our game and the no-brainer timeslots for rivalry match ups. Give me a day in an office with other like minded league people and I could come up with a better draw.

NQ have copped it in the ass in scheduling only 5 saturday games, Newy with 6 out of their first 8 away, teams playing each other within the space of a couple of weeks? Dragons sharks on a thursday, give me a f**king break you merkins.

Is that the way they count them? Would have thought divide the total figure by two at the end of the day!?

That would require some sort of mathematical genius, or at the very least a calculator.

Better play it safe. 1 person at the venue = 1 person at 2 games

It looks like they are trying to recreate the NFLs premium slot of MNF on a Thursday night with little to no crowds

f**kwits

NEW Canterbury coach Dean Pay has slammed the Rugby League Players Association for siding with the NRL over the issue of player welfare relating to five-day turnarounds.

Pay was far from happy that the Bulldogs were one of four clubs along with Wests Tigers, St George Illawarra and Melbourne hit with the equal most five-day turnarounds when the 2018 NRL draw was released.

While those four clubs have three five-day turnarounds, other clubs like Sydney Roosters, Newcastle and Gold Coast have none.

Parramatta, Brisbane, Manly, North Queensland, Cronulla and Penrith all have one, while South Sydney, New Zealand and Canberra have two.

RLPA boss Ian Prendergast issued a statement praising the NRL for what he claimed was a “fair and balanced draw” that included a further reduction in five-day turnarounds.

In actual fact, short-turnarounds only reduce by one game next season, going down from 25 to 24.

You'd like to think so, sadly minor things don't paint a good picture of the NRL as an organisation. Little things matter, It's funny how to attention is overlooked in some workplaces..

Nope don't blame them at all! Have the biggest driving fanbase but give them games that don't accomodate travel time. Genius nrl!

There's quite a few fixtures when you go,through the full draw that you think wtf? Some big games that have been stuck on a Thursday night instead of a Sunday afternoon but the 5 day turn around issue in a sport that plays games over a 4 day a week period is always going to cause compromises.

FTA distribution (assuming Saturday 7:30pm for the last 5 rounds)

Broncos 17
Roosters 15
Dragons 14
Eels 14
Cowboys 13
Bulldogs 12
Panthers 12
Souths 12
Tigers 12
Sharks 11
Storm 11
Manly 7
Raiders 5
Titans 3
Knights 2
Warriors 1

Nobody should have less than 10 games. I understand commercial considerations mean teams like the Broncos are always going to be higher and all that, but for teams to have 5, 3, 2 or 1 games where they are given free to air exposure while others have 17 or 15 is an absolute joke.

Good to see the Raiders get more than their standard ZERO, but this shit makes it pretty damn hard for the smaller teams to attrached sponsors and fans.

Its kinds of a self-fulfilling prophecy; "The popular teams deserve the FTA slots", they get all of the exposure and the smaller teams struggle to attrached new fans, "The popular teams deserve the FTA slots", and so on......
