Just seen a tweet for Phil Gould saying the Panthers will be playing home finals at Allianz

Well that's pretty geniused. But then so is playing at anz week 1 for them

Panthers stadium is capable of hosting a week 1 final against an interstate team...I can understand if it's a big Sydney team though

I guess Gus doesn't like ANZ and its hard to blame him but he's taking our home final further away from the vast majority of our supporter base, so I wonder what the agenda is here.

Great planning by the transport department.......
There is always something on. They schedule these things years in advance. They leave the really big events clear, like the NRL Grand Final, but every other weekend the lines will be closed down somewhere.

The swans will be finished by 7:30 so I reckon they put chooks/sharks on at 7:50 Saturday night. It will probably help with the crowd given roosters and sharks fans make up a good contingent of swans fans.

That would then leave us with (hopefully) storm/souths having the earlier saturday slot and the elimination games on friday/sunday.

Unfortunately I think you are right re Roosters vs Sharks on the Saturday night after the Swans but I suppose if the Broncos fail to qualify for a home final which is still possible they could play Saturdayand Roosters vs Sharks Sunday.

Allianz is like another 40 mins added onto the trip from ANZ, so surely gus can leave his agenda aside and help penrith fans who have to travel enough as it is

Anyway week 1 crowds are now looking pretty trash apart from Brisbane provided they win 24+

Roosters v Conulla 20-25k
Melbourne v Souths 22k
Brisbane v Dragons 45k
Penrith v Warriors 20k

Not the worst but could've been better

Gus doesn't get to decide on finals venue surely? I'm positive it's an NRL decision.

And this comes up every year, the Sydney clubs and Canberra(bizarrely) have to play at either ANZ or Allianz.

It's not Penrith's fault. It is the NRL putting this game on. If you are selling a bum product and the intended buyer isn't buying, it never helps to blame the intended buyer.

Anyway if this is the game I think it'll do OK. Maybe not quite 21,500 but close.
Thing is,the Penrith club need to do a lot more than tweeting $10 bus rides from the club and back.

They should work around putting on buses from all areas of the Penrith district, and have trains that only stop at Penrith,St Marys,Mt Druitt,Blacktown,Parramatta,Strathfield then Central. And the same on the return trips. They need to promote something like this to get more fans motivated.

Not Canberra. They played 2 finals at Bruce in 2016.

This is not Penrith's event. It is the NRL's event.

Obviously cant happen this year but what if the scenario of Canberra or Newcastle win the chance to play a home prelim final

Is it played at their home grounds or Allianz?

I think they must have changed it after much controversy, it definitely was the case that they would have to play in Sydney under the regional finals venue system (I can't find this on Google at the moment)

Such bullshit that sides can't play at their actual home ground. Bust their arses all year and end up at ANZ...ridiculous.
Though i doubt it will have any relevance to my rabble for many years

Raiders fans were screaming blue murder a couple of years ago about week 3. I think if they get a home final in week 3 it is in Sydney, same for Newcastle. As it turned out they got weeks 1 and 2 anyway, but had to play week 3 in Melbourne.
