Mums are already on side! Rugby league has always had mums, often single ones at that, involved in the game!

Lol. Their's hope for the single Dads. And mainstream mums not so much as of late have been pro rugby league?I know of many female teachers that do not give Rugby league the same headstart compared to other less physical codes. Mind you poor junior promotion has alot to blame. Things like not emphasizing the increased confidence and resilience gained from playing rugby league are not seen in junior advert campaigns. The physical intensity should be sold as an asset not be regarded as a negative.

Not as much as in the past I would suggest. I will inform though that every Mum I have mentioned Leaguetag to are very supportive and would have both boys and girls playing this version of rugby league at primary school age. Atm it's not a recognised PSSA sport so kids cannot aspire for representative honors in any school in Australia in this attractive version of rugby league. Especially an introductory version at that!

Folks, this has nothing to do with jerseys etc anymore. Women's NRL thread is wide open for this kind of chat.

Just to bring this to an end, this is from the Telegraph moments ago:

THE NRL have given licences to four clubs for their upcoming women’s competition, with the Broncos, Roosters, Dragons and Warriors to make history in the inaugural season.
The competition will run during the men’s NRL finals series, starting in September.
Holden will be the naming partners for the inaugural competition.

One of the major reasons the AFL and other codes have recently created women's competition is to get females on side with their code. It is a strategic political ploy to invigorate support for a code . These women's competitions are set up to complement the existing infrastructure of the code. They are not money making exercises. They are more of a public relations pursuit. The existing brands are what is being promoted by introducing women's competitions. If you seriously think to suggest otherwise you are clearly not in tune with the reality of Australian sport, particularly the football codes. In stating this I'm all for women participation as rugby league needs it. It will get the mums onside and assist clubs of all grades make the bank balance better and the code more culturally inclusive. After all rugby league is shunned in many establishment tournaments or put to the backwater, like the Olympics and the Commonwealth Games so it requires some help in winning over the public at large .

None of the bold should be case and you haven't provided an argument as to why it should be, except to say that all the other codes do it that way so we should follow suit, which is just stupid. I'm not going to repeat my arguments against those points here (though I already have repeated a few here) you can find them by reading through the early parts of the Women's NRL thread.

BTW do you know what the most successful W-league team is? It's Canberra United, the only club in the league not affiliated with a men's club... Why is that? Cause they have to stand on their own two feet to survive, they have to promote themselves, they have to be competitive for sponsorship dollars, they have too build their brand, etc, cause if they don't they fail and fold, unlike the other teams that can just rely on the men to prop them up.

No equivalents exist in any of the other sports, they're all the lesser for it!

You idiot! I'm sure people are clamoring through the gates to watch Canberra women's soccer team!? I cannot believe you are wasting this threads time on this! No wonder others are amazed at your stance! (if we can call it that!) Wow! A real nutter! Stop wasting our time!
