Brisbanes jersey would look a lot better if it was actually Broncos gold. Instead it's a friggin shitty fluro yellow which I think looked horrible.

But I do agree that the Broncos should go back to mainly yellow for their away jersey.

By that logic they'd need to change their jerseys most seasons.

Changing for form reasons is about the dumbest idea you've had.

Not really.

Let's say Parra continue to have absolute bludger of a season, maybe even getting a spoon.

In 2019 they will (hopefully) have a brand new home ground.

Wouldn't surprise me if Parra go to the NRL with cap in hand asking for an exemption to return to their traditional jersey combo

Just commented to a fan watching the Raiders- Eels game last night at a pub : We both agreed that Parramatta may have to look to change their outfit to last season's kit as this year's outfit has only brought failure and is seen as a losing look. Not saying it will change their play but I suppose positivity or a change may be a good thing. Their current jumper has established a loser look like no other. Got a feeling Parra may have worn something similar in the late sixties. Not sure. But they were pretty close to cellar dwellers then I assume?

I f*ckin despise this logic...

As you say, it will do nothing to change the performance, so it would entirely be for the fans to make them forget about the failures of the previous years. The problem with this is that the bad years are what makes the good years so enjoyable. Clubs should be embracing them.

"It has been a hard road, but we pushed through and made it in the end" is a much better story than "It all came easy. i dont remember what happened for the last decade, but it certainly wasnt important or character building....."

I assume it's to avoid being swallowed up by Manly Warringah.

Yeh, if Bears become a feeder for Manly, it will be an acknowledgement that the Bears arent necessary for the area.

Honestly though, with everything they say about the game dying in North Sydney, it sounds like the Bears are a pretty poorly run group.

The lack of presence of a top flight club is the big loss for the code in the North Sydney area. A reincarnation of the Bears in the form of the Central Coast Bears would revitalize rugby league in Northern Sydney and give the Central Coast a presence. A triple win/win/win with the local derbies for other clubs would be achieved. I suggest that this very doable reclamation and consolidation of the relevant areas is very prudent for the code going forward. Additional expansion clubs are welcomed into the future in this strategy as well.

surely rules around this though, isn't there? ever club registers their home and alternate strips prior to the season. they're stuck with it for the year.

On another note. I initially thought the Broncos kit was odd last night. After about five minutes I got used to it. The Gold jumper colour looked basically an inverse of their maroon based strip. It actually looked ok So I take back my initial disgust. It actually might be a better away strip look than their white based away strip version!

question that needs to be asked is why they were wearing it against Warriors in their Auckland kit when Broncos predominantly maroon would have sufficed.

Actually, the question that needs to be asked is why Warriors were not wearing their home strip at home. No doubt, the Broncos yellow jersey would've been perfect in this scenario. But instead, the viewer is treated to two clubs in alternate strips. Last week Brisbane wore their home strip at Newcastle when an alternate would've provided much better differentiation.

And just like Souths a week ago wearing their white trim & short alternate when the black would've been a much better contrast against St Merge.

The NRL seem to have no rules around this, or just letting the clubs decide what they wear. It's not hard to control. Teams wears their home strip in every game. If they're similar or likely to cause confusion, then the away team wears an alternate. clubs will still get to wear alternate strips during the season under this scenario, but under the right circumstances.

Agree 100% with this except for one thing.

Yes but the eels have an out if they wanted to do this. Their registered heritage jersey is the same as last years home jersey so they could just wear that with yellow shorts and you have last years look. I don't agree with the logic but its probably worth a shot for one game to kick start their season and its not as if other clubs have held back on wearing their heritage jerseys.

Nothing else about bringing the Bears back stacks up unless they uproot to NZ or Adelaide.. but damn it would be nice to have that colour scheme back in the NRL.

Well hopefully the WC Pirates will one day play in red and black with a dash of dirty gold!

Knights will have new strips next year apparently.

Anyone want to have a go at mocking our original strip but with the stripes in a shallow "V"? Reckon it would look shit hot (depending on sponsor integration). Could also add white to make the away quite easily.
