Knights will have new strips next year apparently.

Anyone want to have a go at mocking our original strip but with the stripes in a shallow "V"? Reckon it would look shit hot (depending on sponsor integration). Could also add white to make the away quite easily.

Knights alternate should be cinnamon brown and emerald green.

I am very surprised they haven't done that yet.

Well the divisional side always played in Brown and Green - and the colours are as a tribute to the 35th battalion rather than a council.

The blue and red are the Knights colours. They also have Novocastrian historical relevance. Newcastle Boys High wore blue and red. The blue and red is synonymous with Knights colours everywhere. By changing the colours would only confuse and upset many fans both within the region and around Australia. It's hard enough getting an established identity without confusing the colours of a very well known and popular club.

Like an orange, navy and silver mining jersey?

Anyway, the colours are of great historical significance to both Newcastle Rugby League and the region in general. I would love to see them resurrected - at the very least it would make for a cracking Anzac Day jersey done properly.

Glad you brought up that abomination of a jersey! One of the most ridiculous guernsey ideas I've witnessed. And the Knights have chosen to wear this strip against the Tigers on occasions! Absolute lunatic marketing idea. Reeking of unnecessary tokenism toward a "working class " town. Would love to see the knights wear their original guernsey as their away jumper. Now that would be better than the white version that has been used to date.

You might not want to watch the 5:30pm game this Saturday.

So I assume the marketing people are making the same mistake again! I feel sorry for the fans showing up in Tamworth. This ruins the spectacle massively. Oh well hope the footy is good as that is what saved the rugbyleague world cup.

Pretty sure the Newcastle Jets have done it though.

Probably have

I know they were the colours, with a predominant white as well, for Newcastle KB United in the NSL mid 70's - so it may have been a nod to that history.

The lack of presence of a top flight club is the big loss for the code in the North Sydney area. A reincarnation of the Bears in the form of the Central Coast Bears would revitalize rugby league in Northern Sydney and give the Central Coast a presence. A triple win/win/win with the local derbies for other clubs would be achieved. I suggest that this very doable reclamation and consolidation of the relevant areas is very prudent for the code going forward. Additional expansion clubs are welcomed into the future in this strategy as well.

All but 16 clubs across the country have the same disadvantage and most get along fine...

Its a pretty poor advertisement for the club if the only way they can survive is with an NRL license. They must be pretty bad at running their club.

I'd suggest the rugby league "strategists/administrators " are the ones at most fault. They allowed this scenario to occur! When you dilute the code in its biggest city a weakening of its relevance /support inevitably follows. Many people just don't drop off from their club/area and go for another one. It also negatively impacts the credibility of the established competition. People question "why the retreat or implosion?" for want of a better word!
