West’s classic design is the Roosters jersey but with green instead of blue. So yeah...

Knights are changing their strip for 2019, unless there is a massive change of heart between now and mid year. Hoping we go a horizontal design. I don’t understand the attachment to the Barca strip, it should be in the mix and we should retain our design elements but it should not be permanent.

The attachment of the 'Barca' strip emanates from the euphoric first premiership win and its unique and recognisable look compared to other clubs in the league. You see that and you know it's the Knights. It's also the highest selling and most popular jumper the Knights have used.

But a bloke who knows a salesperson at rebel sport told me it isn't

I see your point but my information is coming from the Knightshop itself. I think thats a fair indication. And it has been a well received style in Newcastle from what I've noticed. The other designs not so popular!

I don't think most fans feel the obsession you do. "Attachment" won't change if we play in something else.

It's not an obsession. It's fact. It's a popular and recognisable strip!? I would suggest that had the Knights stuck with the first premiership winning strip that the support of this club through another successful time in 2001 would have been far greater than was realised. The look matters! It resonates and promotes familiarity and fond memories. And a first premiership is gold as far as that goes! Just my thoughts! Think its valid ! What is a fact though is the Knights were not as well supported in the 2nd gf win than the first. I think a change in look did not help from a fan perspective.

The club with the largest supporter base is the Broncos, who for most of their life have worn strips that looked like a sick baby shat on a towel.

You need to stop posting opinion as fact, it makes you look like an idiot.

This is some of the best trolling I’ve seen in ages. Subtle but effective. Well done.

Can I suggest everyone just put it on ignore and/or stop replying and feeding it. Hopefully it will get bored and retreat back to wherever it came from. Plus there is only 3 weeks left of school holidays so it will only take a few weeks of ignoring it to reclaim the thread

This thread used to be a troll free zone, but unfortunately like most of LU the standards have dropped and those in charge don’t care. Shame really

I really hope that the return to the licorice all sorts is a permanent move as it will at long last establish an identity. Although I would like to see more of a return to the original licorice all sorts and not the tapering off towards the side panels that is the current design.

Yeah, that's something that bugs me about some clubs that have tried to revamp classic designs.

More often than not, they incorporate modern design elements that are just jarring. The grey gradient in the current Penrith jersey is totally un-necessary - as are the crappy trim over the shoulders & side-panels on the Souths jersey.

Manly are a notable exception here - the pinstriped "tram lines" actually don't look too bad to my eyes, and a very subtle difference from solid stripes.

I have to admit we've come a long way from the horrors of the mid 2000s though. Anyone here seen the 2005 Grand Final recently? Great footy, but an eyesore of busy jersey design.

Noted you're wrapping the Broncos with a city of 2 million people with the largest supporter base? Geez they have done so well there! A monopoly that can do what it likes in a one town club scenario and can get away with it. Thankfully the Broncos under Bennett are going back to a more recognisable/familiar strip. The Broncos do change their strip ,however I think the Knights can garnish a more loyal support by not changing a very popular strip!? I look at another like the Dragons whose supporters cherish the red V. That's the type of loyalty a consistent jumper harnesses and toying with it also toys with the fans. Think my opinion is a fair one. The Knights also harness a greater loyalty factor through their most successful recognisable jumper but I can see where this is headed.

Our “most successful jersey” is the rams jersey. A premiership and no spoons. Don’t think we missed the finals in it did we?

Yes we won a premiership 20 years ago in the barca strip, but we also “won” three spoons. An argument could be made it is our least successful strip.

And pretty sure Bennett has nothing to do with the Broncos jerseys. I know he is credited with everything good and nothing bad (Like some sort of living god) but I assume he doesn’t design the jerseys (or Wash and iron them for that matter)

Depends? Your version of success is closed. I tend to figure jumper sales , crowd figures and support commensurate with on field performance would have been much higher had the Knighs stuck with the first premiership winning jersey. You may work out that the new stadium built for the Knights (35000plus capacity) has never been full despite that "Adelaide Rams " jumper period? Subsequent jumpers saw some on field success as well and yet still no full house? Had the Knights stuck solid with the 1997 style strip, I'm of the opinion they would have filled the stadium with the loyal fan base built by sticking solid to a recognised and successful jumper. Just my hunch and I'll stick with it! :relaxed:

It is a simple fact that, with the knights current jersey, we need a 3rd colour for the clash jumper. The Red-Blue are used almost equally in the main, so there is no combination of those colours that will look different enough.

We currently use White as the 3rd colour (not bad, but very uninspired). I would like to see the old HennyPenny gold introduced for the clash jumper, just to see how it would go...

Bit messy DOC. ESPECIALLY with sponsorship and other info on it.

Plus its a fitting tribute to everyone's second favourite Newcastle top level rugby league team.

Going retro if it's legit. Parra did an online fan survey earlier in the year with 4 previous jersey designs with this, the early 80's style used previously and a couple of others.

I like the fact that a survey wss done! This should be a more prevalent way of doing things with the fans in mind! Its a positive and inclusive way of harnessing fan interest and support.

Oh man, no. That looks horrible.

Look like it or not in this situation, the alternate colour is almost always going to be white. Which, whilst boring, has serviced the knights well.

If looking for a change though, what about black?

Black with blue and red stripes may be ok!?
