I doubt the rumour of Newcastle changing their jumper is true, but if it is, i see 2 possibilities...

The first is that Wests are worried the Barca jumper is too attached to failure (ive always found that idea to be dumb, but it could be the train of thought). In this case they will probably just going back to the Henny Penny jumper (my fav). THe great thing about that jumper is that you can reverse the colours and get a workable alternative. No need for white.

The second is that Wests want a jersey that reflect their era in control of the Knights. I dont know what the classic West Newcastle Rossella jumper looks like, but i wont be surprised if we get that design in red-blue.

Having said that, i dont see a change happening at all....

West’s classic design is the Roosters jersey but with green instead of blue. So yeah...

Knights are changing their strip for 2019, unless there is a massive change of heart between now and mid year. Hoping we go a horizontal design. I don’t understand the attachment to the Barca strip, it should be in the mix and we should retain our design elements but it should not be permanent.

West Newcastle also wore a Souths red and green striped and a minutes style jersey in their time.

I think thick red and blue horizontal stripes would look good for the knights and also give a nod to their and West Newcastle’s history.

From a local perspective I would suggest West go softly softly with any Wests input toward the Knights as far the public perception is concerned. For those that are not aware Wests are not a popular club in Newcastle rugby league. In fact they are the most disliked club bar none for decades. They are considered a rich money club that dont connect with their area. The football club is regarded as very anti social and called the "maggots ' by most Novocastrians.

How long till we start seeing sock sponsors? I know it will never happen, given that a large majority of players wear their socks down, but with almost everywhere imaginable on a jersey being occupied (including seperate sponsors for trainers and coach’s shirts), and manufacture’s such as ISC already allowing teams to display what they wish on their socks (Roosters have easts and Broncos have their ‘B’)

I somehow didn't notice the image mockup of the chevron-version of the Knights original design, but that design (or something along those lines) are what they are going to go with when they do decide to change. Like I said before, I hope they don't, but when that inevitable day comes, don't be surprised to see the Knights in a jersey like that.

Some other Knights one-offs/world club challenge/Great Britain tour match jerseys. I really like the nines jersey used this year as an away top for them.

Fairly sure insignia and/or writing on socks has been a thing for years. Men of League round for example

Sticking to the blue and red only is preferable for the Knights look.

Well yes, but red and blue doesn't provide enough contrast that we don't require a clash jersey.

We could have one majorly blue and one majorly red, but the last time we did that people hated the red jersey.

I personally think we should be looking more at charcoal than white as a secondary colour.

I honestly think Superleague was the origin of Penrith's identity crisis. In an ideal world, they would've stuck with the allsorts jersey (or at least black/white with red/green/yellow trim) from 1991 to today - but the move to Superleague forced them to ditch a very successful design, and they lost direction from there.

Similar story with the other Superleague clubs - 1997 landed them with horrible templated designs, and even after they ditched that look (1999 or so) it took a while for them to return to their iconic designs.

I think the 2000-2003 was perfect in its simplicity and was an attempt to recreate the licorice all sorts but with a modern take, with rust red and teal green.

Then there was the switch to ISC with the chevron design, which was OK, but then got a bit silly with the subliminated grey claw / teeth marks on the torso and the trimming on the collar and the sleeves that started in 2008 and kind of evolved in terms of a template right up to 2015.

I really hope that the return to the licorice all sorts is a permanent move as it will at long last establish an identity. Although I would like to see more of a return to the original licorice all sorts and not the tapering off towards the side panels that is the current design.

What about vertical blue and red stripes for home and horizontal blue and red for away/alternate. I dont think any club hsd a colour clash with the blue and red of the Knights. The Roosters are a totally different blue and style. So it could be done!

Id like to see a clash Jersey that maintained the red & blue design, but similar to what Penrith have done, pair is with white sleeves, back and shorts. So you still have say red and blue stripes on the torso, but everything else white
