All 4 halves on display were pretty bad, let's be real.

Maloney is and always has been a high energy, low execution player. I never liked him much when he was at the Warriors (in retrospect I was being somewhat unfair) and over the years I keep on starting to think that I had him all wrong, and then being reminded of what he's about. Overall he's pretty good, but his strengths are speed, support play and decent long kicking, his weaknesses are general decision-making and accuracy when trying to set something up on attack. He is what he is.

Honestly I wouldn't even be dropping Cordner or anything, he's the captain, still young, sometimes you just have those blokes who grind away and do their job and if the team keeps winning you stick with them.

However I don't get why anyone feels the need to make up an imaginary story about him coming up with barnstorming carries last night, we were all watching the same game guys.

Loved JDB's defence.. hits low and hard which is something we have missed for the last few series. nice to have a different kind of back rower out there. would have liked to have seen him out there for a longer period though.

has shit hair though....not much better than his man-bun a few seasons ago

Compare his composure and decision making to pearce.

Game over....

[Insert player from my team] was outstanding.

[Insert player from other team] was beyond shit and nearly cost us the game.

True
I thought none of the Dragons players did much.
Friz had a gun run very early in the game.
The others did f**k all.
Hunt was shit ... got palmed off twice by Tedesco in one of his breaks.
:)

Maloneys in game decision making is fantastic. You don't have the success he has had as a half at multiple clubs with bad decision making and execution, that is fairly ridiculous thing to say. Every club he has been at has at least made a GF.

He f**ked up last night twice last night no doubt but your comment is way off.

The refs were beyond awful but they didn’t cost the match our dumb errors did...oh and Chambers wanting to be the next Thurston and kicking on the 3rd to no one!

Cleary was fairly well targeted, he got smashed all night. He will get better. Maloney had two big mistakes but 3 try assists to go with them so that's pretty good for "ineffective" play.

Cook and teddy set up those tries. Maloney ran suppprt at best.

Not to mention he actually butchered the Fox’s try with his gridiron efforts, thank Christ for the blind touchie

Somehow, somewhere - and soon - Cotric has to come into the side.

He's an absolute freak and a genuine set & forget for 10 years.

I suspect it'll be James Roberts spot up for grabs with Turbo moving to centre (or Cotric himself if he moves there in club land).

Either way the kid is way too good to be sitting on the sidelines for years. Of course it's likely that injury will dictate him playing sooner rather than later anyway.

Roberts spot is up for grabs, certainly.

I honestly don’t see Cotric displacing any of our back 3 unless Fox or Turbo decide to shift into a different position.

you dumb f**ks above needed a kiwi to talk some sense into you stupid shits!

roosters fans, cordner is not flash -> don't try and convince everyone else otherwise. he's relatively easy to handle because every merkin playing and watching knows what he's going to do.

non-roosters fans, he did his job and led the way which is what you want from your captain. better than having your captain as a left centre and his inside half starving him of any opportunity to have an impact and inspire his team. GI had to give away penalties to do it!

Cordner had influence in coming back and taking a carry in just about every single f**king set and helping out his middle forwards when they were buggered. a team needs balance, he's not going to break open a match with individual brilliance. you need your hard working toilers in a footy side and he's the best one there is. if every merkin was a glory hunter then none of the groundwork will be laid.

You can be a good player with weaknesses in your game. Maybe saying he is a bad "decision maker" isn't exactly right. Maloney isn't a bad "game manager" in a wider sense. However he doesn't have particularly good vision or execution on attack. For example, you're liable to see him take a wrong option when there's a chance on, throw a loose pass etc more often than a really elite half because he doesn't have that uncanny "vision" or elite skill level that a really elite half has.

There's no reason why a wholehearted player with a few shortcomings like this can't be an important cog in sides who make Grand Finals.

Bagged Cordner? My suggestion was for him to be benched in favour of crichton you simpleton.

Jimmy had a bad game, but his best trait is he has the mental strength to not let it worry him. That’s what makes him the best 5/8 in the world.

I suggest you panthers fans grow some thicker skin, otherwise you’ll be tying every origin period when anyone dares say a mean word about your players.

roberts was on cleary's side of the field. maloney was clearly pulling the strings on the other side. it's why mitchell and ado-carr got a lot of ball (and props to Cordner for staying out of the way when he had too), and why T Trbj only really got involved when the ball was in the air. Roberts had practically no supply all night and from the way he limped off when interchanged, the achilles probably flared up

He has weaknesses no doubt, decision making just isn't one of them imo. His decision making usually has his team winning. He has one of the highest winning percentages as a player and he has played a major role in his teams since 2011.
