Regarding the not out lbw, Paine basically insulted the umpire by claiming a catch a few overs earlier and then reviewing a ball that clearly pitched outside the line way down leg.

Appeal like an Indian and it might come back to burn you.

Nobody should dare blame the umps for that not out call for the loss. We full on deserved to be beaten....fair and square

I don't understand what you mean? How is it fair and square if he was out and we should have won the test? We lost the plot in that final hour, but how did we deserve to get beaten when that prick Joel Wilson doesn't give a plumb LBW?

Moments we missed in the last 30 mins or so:

Harris throwing to bowlers end instead of Stokes' end
Harris dropped catch
Warner dropped catch
Lyon missed run out
Braindead review leading to the inability to review the last one.

Did I miss any?

I also have no f**king idea why Paine had the field back for 5 balls every over. We barely got a crack at Leach.

And not just at the end, the entire bloody time. When you have 50 ish runs up your sleeve, make the bloke hit through the field with the field up... 4 runs for a guaranteed start of the over at Leach.... no brainer.

Instead we let him farm the strike without risk... unbelievable.

Well as a life long fan of the game and obviously an Australia supporter he's lost me

He needs to do something significant to get that respect back, he's done f**k all with the bat, he's just got that "good guy" persona in press conferences, anyone who actually knows anything about this sport knows that Tim Paine isn't the guy who should be captaining this proud country

I agree wholeheartedly.

Problem is he was not given the captaincy based on his ability to actually play cricket, so they aren’t going to take it off him for bad form.

He’ll be a shit stain on this team for years

I get everyone's anger at Wilson. It was one of many umpiring blunders we've seen this series but that is exactly why the review system is in place. Have to blame Paine. Smith wouldn't have wasted it. I expect King Smith back as captain soon.
Contractually, Smith isn't allowed in any leadership position until March next year.

So, if Paine is going to be given the arse before Smith's leadership suspension is up, Travis Head is the only one in the side I could realistically see as getting promoted to the captaincy. 90+% of the time, captains are always batsmen, rarely are they ever bowlers. The last test 'bowler-captain' we had was Richie Benaud.

But deep down, if there are plans to try to reinstate Smith as captain after the ban, Paine - like Tubby Taylor when he was captain - tows the company line for CA and fits the public image/persona they want, especially in the aftermath of the sandpaper incident.

CA, as well as the selectors, are hoping he can still continue going around until the Bangladesh test series in February next year, before we have a 9 month break with no test cricket before the 2020/21 summer. THAT is where I feel CA will reinstate Smith as captain (if he wants it)

If it was a line ball decision then yeah fair enough but there was nothing line ball about it. It was smashing middle. No professional umpire should ever get that wrong. It’s an embarrassment that it decided the game.

Smith would have been running the show there and we would have won it an hour ago. With or without the c next to his name.

I want to be annoyed at Lyon for fumbling that ball but it's impossible to be and the way he picked himself up to get what should've been the match winning ball, says a bit about him

He's got the runs on the board figuratively speaking (probably literally as well, especially when compared to Tim Paine).

While we are all raging

One of the problem with the elite panel is that half is Australian or English. So Wilson has been rushed back onto the elite panel specifically to fill this hole. He was added in f**king july of this year.

Some nations are not carrying their weight. India is the biggest cricketing nation and it has currently zero elite panel umpires. There are like a gazillion Indians and not one of the merkins can umpire to a high standard? What the f**k is India doing

Not defending the umpire. Couldn't believe they gave him another game myself. It was plum. The review system is there for shockers like that. Both our reviews were clearly wasted that innings.
