You’d think we were fighting over a premiership winning coach with a proven record.

We had a coach. It’s potenially 5-6 weeks before its mad Monday for us and instead we’ve found ourselves in the media for all the wrong reasons.

How is Ivan Cleary worth any of this? The media shit storm, the potential falling out of clubs and let’s not forget that we fired this guy and he’s got a contract with a club which showed good faith in hiring him eighteen months ago.

At the end of the day whatever happens atleast we won't have Hook coaching us in the finals.

Would prefer we struck a deal with Bennett for 2 years and reconsidered Ivan then. Bennett should happily do a 2 year stint at his age. Fittler would be another option after him.

I think Nathan stays for peanuts if he thinks his dad will be here in 2 years. Gus is happy to give him the get out clause if we do wrong by him.

We might as well get Daniel Anderson out of retirement - he had a better record than Cleary at the Warriors and got the Eels to a Grand Final after all.

Apparently a grand final and a preliminary final with a career win record of 47.1% is elite level these days.

Maguire 55.6%
Hasler 58.2%
Toovey 58.1%
Bennet 62.0%
Griffin 55.5%

Here's a dilemma for everyone. If Cleary comes, he probably changes the squad in some ways. However, most of us would probably agree that the squad shouldn't be changed. JFH has found his home as an enforcer prop style 13. Cleary seems to have always preferred a Taylor style 13. What other changes might he make?

We won’t be able to underpay Nathan massively, NRL won’t register a contract if they believe it’s below the market rate. Given Nathan played origin his market rate just went up.

Very little. I think he is coming in as a coach on paper and will do what is suggested to him.

I am in two minds about this. I love Ivan and was devastated when he was axed He took a club that was a complete mess and resurrected it to what it is today. But I don't think it's the right choice for our new coach.

Either way I'm glad to see hook go Never was a fan of his.

Out of the wealthier clubs I find Penrith fans to be level headed true Rugby League supporters and not self entitled douches...........Usually anyway

I was disappointed Ivan Cleary left in the first place. He had nothing but injuries to contend and that made his time at the club hard.

Having said that I don't like other clubs shat on and a club like the Tigers if Cleary does come will set them back to years Taylor was there unless their Board can act fast and get someone decent in.

I have always rated Cleary. Gets the best out of players, roles are clear to players and always hard to beat. With our roster he is the best man. Better than McGuire who I despise with his bash and barge style and Hasler who plays his team on stats alone.
