2019 Crowd Watch

The Dragons need to shift to Wollongong. It could potentially get crowds comparable to Newcastle.
Both Kogarah and Wollongong get good crowds when the Dragons are winning. Newcastle gets good crowds when the Knights are running last and fantastic crowds when they're doing well. If there is potential in Wollongong it requires a successful team on-field.

Most teams get good crowds when going well. The Roosters are the exception.

There is no perfect timeslot, and honestly depending on what an individual's circumstances are, what is 'ideal' continues to change and evolve. This is one thing I feel the NRL or the clubs have never bothered to try and understand, is what timeslots actually work better for the majority of fans for different communities.

I also wonder if they've ever tried to see whether some tweaks in kick off times might have an impact on crowds, ie. If Thursday Night kick off at 7:45pm versus 8:05pm, would that make it seem more appealing for people? Sure it's only a minor tweak, but a bit like the old '99c' sales tactic, sometimes it can have a significant affect on how people process an offer.

Anyway, regardless, even if the above occurs, clubs still need to get better at creating reasons for people to go to a match beyond just form, otherwise you get scenarios like yesterday where Dragons fans are disgruntled and don't turn up, and Roosters fans know they are going to beat a poor team like the Titans, and don't turn up.

Thursday is already too late

Make it 700 kick off

I saw some posters for panthers v Sharks at Penrith
Posters were on poles in South Hurstville.

A bit weird.

Read into however you like but that's how it is. I am just one disgruntled Saints fan whose form of protest is to not attend games until the team decides to at least have a go.
I assume you are a Storm fan so this may be hard for you to relate with, but when your club treats you with utter contempt and trots out the kind of performance like you saw today from Saints (and have done so for pretty much all season), it would weigh on your decision to attend especially if you have travel to contend with as well. I wouldn't be surprised if many Saints fans took advantage of the beautiful day to do anything except go to the footy.
Or if you're like Knights fans, you should go support your team through the good and bad times.

I’d love to see 20k+ at Canberra on Sunday. I reckon it’s doable.
Weather is going to cause issues. We had a great weekend just now, this one is looking at showers and top of 8 for Sunday.

Otherwise would have said 20,000+ easy.

Yeah but we’ve only had 2 home games in 11 weeks. Weather is a poor excuse, If it’s sunny people should be there.

Getting a bit squeezy in old Brookie when it gets over 15,000. Panthers has the same trouble at 18,000+.

Was at Penrith stadium last year when it had over 21000 there. It was fine. In fact their were still seats about in the stand near the leagues club side.

f**k. So long as no rain!

So far with the advanced weather forecast there is no mention of rain on Sunday, fingers crossed. Just will have to take 3 or 4 layers to keep warm. Last year it was freezing and a little bit of sleet but actually felt the coldest when walking back to the car after the game

Bought tickets for the Canberra game last night and the pax was 12,932, looked just now and some of the sections where you could buy 10 tickets are down to single tickets now and some are completely gone, still some sections though where you can get up to 10 tickets. I think if its sunny 20,000 + is a real possibility.

The game deserves at least 20000. They are both great teams !
