They should just do what the AFL do and steadfastly claim the games a sellout, regardless of how many thousands of empty seats there are. Unfortunately the NRL media aren’t sycophantic stooges and won’t blindly regurgitate the spin in the same way the AFL media do.
Both codes claim sell-outs that end up being a couple of thousand short of capacity for big games. In almost all cases it's a result of stadium members not turning up.

Some tickets released as cat bronze now
They will sell the seats somehow, its pretty poor the media clowns feel the need to carry on about it, Robert Craddock is probably the worst. I personally wouldn’t spend $200 to watch any sporting event. Perhaps they forget its a working mans sport and probably 200k people would love to go if they didn’t have other priorities. $120 is ample for a premium seat, they can slug the corporates more for their packages, its a tax write for the company, not somebody spending their own hard earned

I agree with your pricing. Cat one during sell outs were $120-$180.

It used to be the best event when all could attend, everyone so happy and having a great time. Won’t be long before it’s just boring accountant and lawyer crowds.

Almost like the bledisloes from the mid 2000s...

News limited write crisis articles regarding origin every year. They did it last year for the mcg game and claimed the crowd would be an embarrassing crowd of 50000 and the mcg would look empty, it ended up being over 87k. It is all part of their game is dying agenda which hurts the game. People believe these headlines and base their opinions on lies.

$100 ends
$150 corners to 20m
$180 best seats

That would be a reasonable cost Id say. Not $150 for ends, $270 corners and up to $340 for best as is now! That is putting it out of the range of the avg RL fan and certainly most families if you want to take kids to experience it. I get supply and demand but you also have to be careful not to alienate your main customer base.

I’ve purchased 4 tickets for Sydney for $427 in total. I consider that to be reasonable. Three years ago we spent $230 each for seating at Suncorp and didn’t get the seats we thought we had purchased. Never again.

Spending anymore than $150 for a game of football is insane. That’s what top International bands charge to see them play here, same for one day music festivals as well. Just crazy.

Yeh as big a fan as I am I refused to pay $540 for 10m line setas for me and the mrs to go to origin even though it is in perth and Optus is a great stadium. Finally picked up a couple of ok seats innext block for $300 the pair so felt ok to buy them. Frickin ridiculous prices for a 1/2 decent seat.

No doubt they feel they can get away with stinging us for higher prices with only one game each year in each city now. Its a great tv event as it is, people will just stay home and spend $100 on menulog instead.

Perth might be excited getting their first game but once they see how far from the action a $200 seat is they wont pay it next time. MCG is horrible for it hence why many reduced prices were available week of the game. Won’t mention my employer but we all got access to a free ticket on the Tuesday last year as part of their partnership with the NRL. Sitting in the upper tier, original box office prices were $90.

True about the boring accountants and lawyer crowds....its the people’s game it must stay this way

Be nice if they rewarded full ticketed members of clubs with pre sale opportunity if prices ever came down to being reasonable and sell out level again. Reward the fans that put in all year I say.

Not that I'm thrilled at the ticket prices either but if you are selling out a game in half an hour, your ticket prices are way too cheap. If you are not selling it out, you are too expensive but if by kick-off, you've filled the stadium you've nailed it. They usually achieve a full-house so I guess they've got it right.

The 11m in ticket sales and 50k+ would back the NRL's decision to keep the prices where they are.
