I agree. But if you were heading to the game, it would probably be your only choice, so wouldn't you stick it out if you wanted to attend?
This logic works for the core base of fans - who can and likely did attend.

The numbers that make crowds good are on the edges and are likely to be easily turned away by things like massive traffic problems and double fatalities on the major arterial road in and out of the city.

To be fair mate, and at some stage us Sydneysiders are going to have to admit this. Sydney fans just can't be f**ked attending games in big numbers. Last night, with two Sydney teams at a brand new stadium, should have been more. Way more. Sure, Thursday night ain't great but it wasn't even the 9800 crowd they claimed. Way under that. GWS figures claimed.
Tonight at WIN is just as embarrassing. A car crash. FFS. There's always Bulli Pass.
It's well past the time that us NRL fans try and protect our shitty crowds.
It's a cultural difference between us and other states, and tbh, I don't really know what the answer is to fix it.
We just can't defend our shitty crowds anymore, no matter how many excuses are thrown up.

Wollongong isn’t in Sydney firstly.
Secondly, it’s the scheduling that is the problem, not Sydney. Last year tigers v souths at anz on a Saturday got over 25k, this year it got 9k on a Thursday. Scheduling and origin stuffing up scheduling while taking hype away from the comp are the problem.

I'm sympathetic to the situation. Awful for the families of all those involved. An awful situation which I saw on the news. Just a terrible, sad, event. I mean that.
I'm just not going to cop it as being an excuse for such a shite crowd tonight.

My mate hasn't missed an NSW Dragons game for nearly a decade.

Left work in Western Sydney at 4 to ensure he made it. He didn't.

Tbf 16000 is more than the Roosters would of got at home

But that was one quiet crowd, it was good at times/after a try but majority of the time was fairly quiet, i think a chant only really started up once for each side

Not that it should need it but the stadium announcer etc. didnt really do much to try get the crowd going either, Im not sure how they usually do it in Sydney but a regular home game for the storm at AAMI seemed like more of an "event" than this game did

If the Roosters want to stick with this they need to make it feel like more of an event, walking up to the stadium there was a half fallen down membership gazebo (I think) and that was about it, didnt see any advertisment in the city either

The crowd definitely seemed a bit off tonight, to be honest the viewing angle from most of the lower bowl isn’t great for RL, found myself watching the screen half the time and even then it was hard to tell what was going on. Really need to put this fixture on a Saturday to make it easier for fans to travel in.

2nd tier red seats is a good height and spot....still got the distance though.

Ordinary crowd in Adelaide.
Grand final rematch
Probably 5 or 6 of the biggest names in the game playing.
2 of the biggest to have ever played.
