We live for this

Roosters v Souths have not faced in a Final since 1935
It's the ultimate
Winning or losing this would shade even 2010 or 2004 for feeling. We're 1 and 3 in GFs against Sydney rivals in my lifetime, I need this
It'd be like withdrawing your entire life savings for a single roll at the casino. While winning would be the greatest thing ever, losing is just not worth the risk. There's a chance the 2 wouldn't meet in the GF again in our lifetimes - I'm not prepared for a lifetime of salt.

Our fanbase survived 2010.
We both got through the 2014 and 2018 knockouts
We can get through this ;)

If we're talking GF losses that would ruin a fanbase
I think if Sharks bottled 2016 in the final minute the entire shire would have collapsed in a mire of depression. Just sunk into the swamp.

Can we agree on something?

Whoever loses, they also have to lose in the prelim. I think my fellow roosters and foe Souths fans would agree that our respective fan bases couldn’t handle meeting in a grand final. People would die that week from pure stress

It would be like combining the stress of the two games in 2012, and then mutipying it by 10.

Supporters of either side that had pacemakers etc would be banned from watching it live.

But how good would it be for the game? The whole country will dump the AFL for our great game. You know it will happen! You know it will, I’ll tells ya!

My nan is a rabid souths fan, and has a pacemaker. I am genuinely concerned she could die

You would have to be a good Grandson and watch the game with her.

What about the families that have say South's Dad and Daughter, Easts Mum and Son. That week would be chaos.

Yeah. I was broken when we couldn't quite get over the line.
But I think how much more painful it would have been for the Sharks as a whole had we got over in that last play...merkins would have been on suicide watch.

If this game promises to be anything like Thursday night, I'm getting the popcorn and beer out.
I hope Souths get up. As a storm fan, I'd rather try our luck against Roosters in a possible prelim at AAMI then go head to head in another GF. With that said, my gut is saying Roosters will adjust from last week.

24-20 Easts in a close one.

We've had an agreement since I was about 20 that we never watch games together out of respect. Neither of us can spit the kind of venom we want to in each others presence.

roosters in the rematch for mine. Keary a big in, and if you can't find the definition of discipline in the dictionary, it's because you are looking under the wrong letter - spell it A-U-B-U-S-S-O-N. he was missed the other night.

Burgess, what a f**king nuffy. Still, Johnstone is a great return in for Souths at this time of year.

I can't split the packs. Even if JWH gets off.

Mitchell vs Roberts is the real interesting one for mine. Both are as likely to have 10/10 games as they are 1/10 games. If someone can win this battle it'll go a long way to helping their side claim victory.

Having Campbell Graham and not Dane Gagai marking up against Manu helps too.

The real test for Souths will be can we shut down Tedesco with Keary back in the side?

I survived losing to the Dogs in the 2004 GF - and given the intensity of that rivalry back then, which equals anything I've seen - I guess it means I'd survive losing to Souths in a GF, too.

Though I'd probably be a changed man. More bitter.

Now losing a GF effectively to a 1-on-1 strip with 60 seconds to go, followed by a try on the siren, and further followed by a knock on off the golden point kick off, aaaand followed by a sudden death field goal. Now that, THAT I could never get over.

Now that was cruel and unnecessary and diminished you as a human being.

Souths winning the GF against us would bite but not as much if we played them when they broke their drought in 2014 after 2,654 years or something in the wilderness. Similarly, like the Sharks after their soft comp win when they won it for the first time. That would have sucked.
