Yea I noticed that too. It appears to be TopBetta I think. Play Up is still on board but maybe just not on the shorts anymore?

Where can I find these lower grade photos?

It was on their IG stories mate, but those would have self destructed by now.

They were wearing the 2018 jersey with the new shorts as I’m guessing they haven’t got the new kit with Wotif sponsorship on them yet.

Yea I did see that last night on Instagram actually and I think you're right in regards to the jersey.

I wonder what has happened to Play Up then? They're still on the website and stuff so still with us but maybe the deal has changed.

That Bulldogs jersey doesn't look terrible in action but it's still just not a very well put together template.

Yeah but only Cronulla are getting slammed for it. Apparently its all Flanagan, Dugan and Fifita's fault.

Wonder whose to blame at Melbourne.

Sharks jersey was completely bare, Storm still have Suzuki, Tigerair, Hostplus and Fuso

still I'm interested to see what the reason is, whether it is lack of interest, storm asking for too much or both

I'm not having a dig at Storm, mate. Just you'd be fair to believe Sharks were the only merkins without a major yet.

Crown has been there major sponsor for a time, so if a casino group has drawn the line at cost then thats a bit odd. And the storm "brand" in melbourne is actually quite strong from what i see and hear (im in melbourne for work most weeks).

It may be just that Crown have taken a different path and withdrawn, seems most likely. And I'd also suggest that they are basically getting the jersey out jn the public view for the "advertise your business here" angle. Promoting the real estate.

I honestly think that there will be a major on the front soon enough. in negotiation etc. couldnt fathom them struggling for interest. But..

Begs the question - and I've never thought too much of it before but what would the cost of a major sponsorship be per season? Top tier teams, average etc?

So many sides change year on year and I wander what the contributing factors are, ie major sponsor withdraws, the club goes to auction for the highest bidder, a bit of both, other...?

I cant recall which club it was, but i remember a story a few years back about a club without a major sponsor. They said they had offers but for less than what they wanted and that they knew what they were worth.

My guess is something like this is happening to the Storm. I just dont believe it is a lack of interest...

Crown Resorts flagged their intention to wind up all sponsorships back in March of 2017. Their deal with Souths was ending but I believe they ended up extending late for a further year in 2018. Their deal with Storm was actually supposed to run until the end of 2020. I’m sure Storm’s preference was to see out the existing deal - and it did continue into 2018 - but Crown Resorts still left with two years to go.

It’s not the first time we’ve been heading into a season without a front of jersey sponsor. At the end of 2013, Crown was supposed to be reducing its sponsorship of the club, stepping down to shorts sponsor only in 2014. It wasn’t until maybe a week before round one where we were still without a front of jersey sponsor and Crown Resorts stepped back up.

I’d like to say that the club has been left ‘high and dry’ by Crown Resorts but really, if we knew they were going to withdraw there should have been plenty of time to find someone new. Hopefully the wait is worth it and we end up with a quality sponsor.

Souths did it in 2008 before they signed NAB.
