The NRL have changed their logo in linkedin:

Anyone know if this will be the new official logo moving forward ?

A mate of mine is a RL Development Officer. Recently we were e-mailing back-and-forth and I noticed this NRL logo now in the signature and did wonder if there was an adjustment to the branding on the horizon.
Personally, while simple is often best, I find this to be bland, unappealing, and a step backwards from what we have now.
Presumably, should this be the next version of it, it would be marketed as such that it could be any colour and not just restricted to green and gold (or just green in this case). Kinda like what Telstra do with their logo.

That'd be almost invisible on a Raiders jersey lol.
Im guessing if this is actually a new logo, the reason its been simplified and only has 1 colour is so that the colour can be customised for each team, so it could be blue on a raiders jersey for example

I think the worst thing is just that shade of green. A stronger, darker shade of green improves it a lot.

And purely in terms of recognisability, the simplicity of this is great. The standard rule for national flags is that it should be easily recongiable if it is drawn in a box 1inch-by-2inchs because that will be similar to the relative sixe from 100m away.

This is probably the only logo in the NRL that would pass any similar test.

I prefer greenBV4 version. I think simplicity is the key but also if somehow the shape of a football can be incorporated would be good. The superleague logo I think was a stroke of genius which had stood the test of time.

Maybe something like this. Whatever they choose as their next logo, they need to stick with it . AFL have had their current logo for 19 years since changing from the Union Jack emblem. The shape of a football allows it to be used in a more flexible manner by placing it on sponsor banners or emblems.

Fox Sports would probably love it.

That soft rebrand appears to be progressing, this FS logo and variations of it have begun to appear alongside the normal silver finals logo
