so much energy being used just to avoid naming the other team. QLD built up an aura after 10 series wins in 11 years, but they've made NSW kings of this contest after just one series win.
It's clear to anyone they have better players now, on top of knowing how to win.

Laurie Daley changed the culture for the better, but was still hamstrung by bad selections. Fittler just said f**k your pick and stick I'm going on form and once the QLD mainstays retired they had the upper hand.

Cook completely changes the equation - he's the best hooker in the game.

Right now we don't. Doesn't mean that we can't start the re-build process by giving players like Reed Mahoney a shot off the bench in game 3 if it's 2-0 NSW as predicted. Right now Mahoney isn't ready, doesn't mean you don't start building for the future.
If a series is lost something has to be gained from that that can be carried forward.

Your spine has more rep experience which helps.

there have been many series in the history of Origin were NSW have supposedly had better individual players overall, but come up short.

so now the inconvenience of round 12 is over - did it even happen? - it's all about origin 1 baby!

the trend has been for stability in combinations prior to last series (QLD rarely changed and Daley got sucked into the pick and stick with wrong players) but there's a bit of change for all combinations for this one since last series.

QLD right to left
Gagai - Chambers - DCE - Gillett --- (Ponga) --- Kaufusi - Munster - Morgan - Oates
vs
Ado-Carr - Mitchell - Walker - Cordner --- (Tedesco) --- Frizell/Crichton - Cleary - Morris - Cotric
NSW left to right

Middles (as listed)
QLD: Arrow - Papallii - McGuire - Hunt -> Rotation: Napa - Ofahengaue - Fifita - (Mbye)
NSW: Klemmer - Vaughan - Trbojevic - Cook -> Rotation: Frizell - Haas - Murray - (Wighton)

As usual, NSW seem to have the edge on paper in the middles and rotation.

Morgan in the centres is a risk but he's more than capable of handling it. If anything, QLD may have NSW on that side, even though both Kaufusi & Morgan are out of regular club position. Watch Ponga has he loves chiming in down his teams' left side too.

Walker and Mitchell will be a handful down the other edge if the NSW middles can get a roll on and these two gel well with Teddy filling in too.

Cook will be the difference. We haven't seen an acting half with his acceleration. A prototype for new #9s in the future.

Once again, the attraction of this match is the uncertainty. New players and combinations. Looking forward to it.

Feels like it’s been a while since the last 1 point margin in origin?

NSW by a Cleary field goal 13-12

I can't back the team containing Moses Mbye.

I'm tipping Cook & Teddy to rip QLDs colon to shreds up the guts of the field.

Jake T to be the best forward on the field and Payne Haas to step up to Origin like it's just another club game because he's a superhuman freak.

Blues by 12.

Would have to be the most underwhelming forward pack ever named in origin. Wish he left Fifita out of it.

NSW forwards should by all accounts smash QLD through the middle leaving Tedesco, Cook, Walker & Mitchell plenty of room to do their thing. Only thing that will keep the points down is a lack of combinations amongst their key players.

NSW 16+
