Some interesting scores today, looks like a long year for Blacktown. Asquith beat Burwood convincingly by the looks of it. Anyone see any of the games?

RMC

Asquith 32 Glebe Burwood 12
Mounties 52 Blacktown 18
Cabra 28 Guildford 20

Given the opposition, Mounties were able to include some of the guys that did not get a game in the first 2 rounds.

SS

Ryde Eastwood 44 Moorebank 6
Asquith 30 University 20
Cabra 38 Guildford 4

Looks like a very big score cabra v Guildford SS. Were Cabra that good or Guildford just poor??

Guildford had nothing in SS. They had plenty of chances to win RMC but every time they demonstrated their attacking prowess they would let in a soft try at the other end.

Glebe v Asquith was tougher than the score would suggest. Glebe didn't execute as well as Asquith. Asquith took advantage of an early lead and were never headed. It's early days and Glebe have the squad to go on with it so wouldn't read to much into it. Glebe had a couple of ISP players drop back. Asquith had a couple of Norths ISP players but sent 3 of their best to play with Norths. Someone mentioned this earlier but looks like Norths have decided 2 or 3 of the Asquith squad are better than their signings so call them up each week.

RMC

Wenty 40 St Marys 12
Brothers 36 Hills 28

Shock result at Ringrose. Brothers on the board early after only 1 win & 1 draw last year.

SS

Hills District 36 Brothers 10
East Campbelltown 50 Belrose 12

Wenty and St Marys were given byes after 2 exhausting games. Hills 3 out of 3 compared with 2 wins all year last season share the front running with East Campbelltown while Moorebank has lost all 3.

It was pretty even at the start. A lot of drop ball for both teams. Brothers were camped down on hills tryline for 2-3 sets and couldn’t cross. When they were attacking they were dropping the ball on second or third tackle. Very poor quality game. Hills looked good a lot of work still to do i think. Couple of injuries in the game too.

So what does that mean for all the boys that have stayed from last year , where are they all playing ?
I guess the coaching staff at st Marys don’t care how much they f**k around the players contracted to them, they only appear to try and keep penriff happy so that they might jag a job for themselves at penriff.
The st Marys players that don’t get a start each week are either sent to play c grade at st Marys or Colton a grade..

I noticed John Olive played for Cabramatta on the weekend

I was under the impression that the top 30 in the NRL squad could not play Massey. I thought ISP was the lowest they could go.

Can anyone shed any light on it.

If you. look at the nswrl website it should have info about that stuff.
There is a Player Points System that the clubs have to abide by. Different players are worth different points. The team must come in under the max points allowed for both RMC and SS.

I'm well aware of the points system.

I know a team was going to play a player last year from the top NRL squad after they were dropped from ISP but were told they were not allowed to as that player was part of a top 25 NRL squad.

If this was the case it would be an amendment since JBC when Shellharbour directly fed St George NRL as they had no reserve grade and 4 of the 17 that played in the NRL quarter final had played JBC during the season.

Ok like I said if you dig around on the nswrl website you can probably find the answer.

I think you will probably already know that coaches promise players the world then leave them hanging. If the player is lucky its powers above that are dictating to the coach who actually tries to do the right thing. But sometimes they just stockpile

Yep I agree some coaches will stock pile players. They seem to want the players there if they need them, but in my opinion are more than happy to f**k up these kids footy careers.
Classic example is in my opinion st marys sending young blokes back to play rubbish A grade for Colyton. Basically they appear happy for players to risk injury playing shit footy just to try n keep them match fit in case they need them to play SS
