Well down on Newcastle.

Newcastle had a lot of local support built up over the three years as well as having a thriving junior scene in the north east.
Liverpool is a completely different animal as far as following anything but soccer,
there is virtually no league played in the city and the league followers and players in towns like St Helens, Widnes and Warrington are derided as "egg chasing woolly backs"
The bigwigs at SLE will have to commit to Liverpool for a few years and advertise plenty to bulild up any significant
Scouse attendance at MW, until then it will be just the diehard League fans that attend.

They are the poster boys for inconsistency!, when they are good they are very very good, but when they are bad they are horrid.
They only need be missing one or two key men and they go completely to pot.

Liverpool is on the doorstep of the big heartland clubs like Wigan, St. Helens and Warrington and yet it’s still well down on Newcastle.

We need to target the north east like crazy by keep magic weekend in Newcastle and taking test matches against Australia and New Zealand to st James Park.

I also believe that local amateur clubs in the region took hundreds if not thousands of people to st James Park when it was held there including the cramlington rockets. It also helped boost the attendance of a couple of Newcastle thunder games which was played on the Friday night. Something similar to like what the London skolars do prior to the challenge cup final at Wembley.

Newcastle is a party town. One of the best night scenes in the UK. Great excuse for a weekend away. Liverpool is dull and beyond the gloss of playing at Anfield (which is a shit ground) there is nothing which would encourage people to attend beyond the die hards who are all within 30 minutes drive anyway.

The North East Junior clubs did a great job in taking people to St James Park in what was for most their only chance to see the Stars of Superleague in the flesh, With Anfield it's a completely different proposition the RL players and fans get to see them week in week out and the only attraction to get people there is Anfield itself, and the fact that it is not included in season tickets doesn't help as its hard enough to get ticket holders to fork out for home cup games never mind committing to a full day or two travelling into Liverpool in cars or public transport

Almost the perfect storm of results at the weekend. Hull won, Rovers lost, Leeds lost, London won. the only downers were Saints robbing Salford with a blatant knock on and London shipping late points which meant Hull KR were spared bottom spot.

How quickly things change!
