Now youre just making things up. I never said it was sht, I never said it was crap, what I actually said was that apart from the perth game ticket the rest of it had no value to me. Did the storm consult their WA fans on what they’d like to see in the membership? No. Franklin says he’s never been consulted, now you’re saying it might be the junk mail folders fault lol.

I’m not dismissing it, I’m saying it’s an excuse for not doing your job very well in getting people to games. Other sports, music events, festivals etc are getting people off their couches, are RL fans some sort of unique sub set of society?

another myth, afl isn’t better at the ground, the ground is so big you end up watching the big screen half the game to see what’s going on. As for ease of access, are they? They aren’t in the next suburb like Sydney grounds. They are central and usually require 30-60mins travel for most fans. They do tend to be better facilities though and aren’t 3/4 empty which makes a big difference to the experience.

You did say it didn't suit you, but then you went on to suggest that by extension, all the offerings are crap and accused them of no consultation etc. Which is false.

Clubs survey members, sometimes all, sometimes subsections of members, sometimes non-members. It relies on members firstly seeing the survey (many are done by third parties and can end up in junk; others are buried in a bigger email which could easily be missed).

If you want to be dismissive of the ease of watching at home be my guest, but it's the reality now, which brings me to...

NRL is a TV sport. It rates so well - more than AFL in most cases - because it's set up well for TV, for the most part it's covered well by its broadcasters - you get far more from the footy watching at home, be it stats, replays etc etc. By contrast, AFL is a better 'at the ground' experience as you aren't limited to what the camera is focusing on being a bigger field etc, not to mention the venues for most clubs are arguably easier to attend due to location, particularly in Melbourne.

Blaming lower memberships or lower crowds on one specific thing isn't really helpful, nor is putting forward your own experience as the norm for others - there are so many factors at play from TV, to cost, to location etc which stop people either going or joining.

Penrith is bad location for away fans yes but if every member shows up then the ground is full. So location only matters for away fans/neutrals.

Of course there is but it isn’t for me to say why others aren’t showing up just speak from experience.

How would they know if it is the norm or not though?

Penrith Leagues has 70k members. When a member re-signs or signs up only need to ask 3 questions

Who do you support? If is another team then you don’t market to this person.

How many games have you attended?

What would make you attend more?

The facebook group has 200k members. You won’t need question 1 but can ask the other 2 though.

From that you get plenty of data to use to form different memberships/packs

or you can just say it is a TV game and no grow the fanbase and slowly die off

More false equivalence.

The TV comment isn't a suggestion to say we just don't market or try to grow - it's telling you, whether you like it or not - that there are factors that exist that stop people coming. And more than one of them. Expand your mind, have a think, and don't pretend there's a silver bullet that will fix it all in one fell swoop - or a single reason for growth being slow.

Trying to pretend ground centralisation, transport and access aren't easier in Melbourne is a new one, even for you.

What is false? I just listed a few ways you can get the answers you need?

Again so you just give up? You don’t offer too many solutions you must work for NRL with that attitude

To try and pretend that is the only reason crowds are stagnate in NRL shows a lack of knowledge of the real world

I didn't say anything about giving up, you've made that up.

I literally just said in my previous post that there are a range of reasons that crowds AND memberships are stagnating and you think I believe there's only one reason? Please read everything someone says before replying with such nonsense.

Timeslots, price, work/Family commitments are all reasons. Unless someone doesn’t like the sport then there is ways to get them there.

1st step though is finding those passive fans or those non ticketed members and asking why they don’t attend.

then work on that. I don’t think clubs are doing that just hoping people’s love of the game takes over

yes and a smart club will try a find what those factors are.
You’re an apologist for clubs and have no vision or desire to grow.it’s imperative that they do and head in the sand attitudes suck and lead to death

Come on a Franklin, she’ll be right mate. No need to try and lift those ticketed numbers. al, is hunky dory at the levels they are

And Adelaide, perth, Sydney , Brisbane? I mean if you are a shark fan and live in The shire you’re a 15min Drive way from the ground! If anything given the amount of grounds in Sydney I doubt fans need to travel anywhere near as far as other cities to get to the stadium.

Yes PR, all fans for all clubs live within a short radius of their home ground

there you go again, all? Don’t be stupid. A very large % yes otherwise where is the argument for suburban grounds?
I’d suggest if you took a 30-45min travel time circle from most grounds in Sydney you’d have close to 250k people or more in it.

I can't believe you don't think that grounds in Melbourne, Adelaide and Perth in particular are easier to access than those in Sydney. Bizarre.

the Sydney mindset is that they couldn’t be stuffed.

they need to be incentivised
