Not interested but led all NSW edge backrowers in tackles, tackle percentage, metres, post contact metres and second in tackle breaks as well as having the lowest error/penalty rate. As I said he's significantly up in literally every statistical category from 2019 but I guess that doesn't mean anything because according to your PHD in body language he had a bad year

As someone that watched every game this year friz has never had an issue getting through work. Dynamic as he could be? No way. Would I start him? Still a no. He does the basics at a consistently high standard but I can see how are drags fan would have wanted more. That Is more due to poor coaching rather than ability. Handcuffed from offloading and ran poor lines all year due to game plan. Friz in a top 4 team would be the prem 2nd row in the comp used correctly.

Proves you haven't watched him much this year. Daniel Tupou was amongst my club's best this year. Always put his hand up to run the ball when the forwsards needed a breather and even though, due to injury, he only played in 15 out of the Roosters 22 games in 2020 he still managed to score 11 tries (source: https://www.rugbyleagueproject.org/players/daniel-tupou/summary.html) whilst often was often in our top 3 yardage makers game in game out averaging 181 meters per game, or 2728 running meters for the season which made put him in the top 33 players in the NRL (source: https://www.nrl.com/stats/players/?competition=111&season=2020&stat=1000037).

Then add in that with Keary in the side, and playing left edge, having a combination with Tupou probably helped. Finally add in he is a monster under the high ball on most occasions.
Ehhh. Good under a pinpoint high kick, good for a sluggish run occasionally. Seems to be a fairly lazy defender, hardly makes a dent on a kick return. Was underwhelming last time he got a run for NSW, hope he's much better this time around.

I tipped QLD even though they have a ridiculous burden in Hunt and Hess. Maybe I've been traumatised by so many unexpected QLD victories that I almost expect it nowdays.
Anyway go the Blues!

Years ago during our golden run, Qld we down by two tries with minutes to go and got out of jail to win again. Next morning, a Victorian at work asked if I'd given it up at that stage. I said, "Mate, we've come back from similar positions to win so many times, I almost expect it."

Unfortunately, our golden generation are all gone and the dastardly Blues look set to dominate for several years. All I've got to hang my hat on is the Spirit of '95.

Gotta disagree in regards to toops. Every game I watched him in this year he has been great. Been doing it for a while now too.
He was picked too early for the blues that’s all. Absolute fun player now

Occasional run? ROFLMAO. Yeah you make an average of 181 metres a game by only making one or two runs? Considering Tedesco was averaging 231 metres a game, Brett Morris was averaging 144 meters a game. Tupou doesn't need to hog the ball. Further Tedesco and Tupou are the ones who often take the kick returns for us dingleberry, so I suggest you take off your blindfold next time.

As to defence, how many wingers are noted for being great defenders?

30 degrees here today, hotter tomorrow, but a cool change for Wednesday forecast. Chance of light showers.

walked past the oval yesterday and looking in, the pitch is an absolute treat. No doubt from little use during winter.

he was pretty average on his return from injury but prior to that he was one of the best wingers in the comp.

I'm stunned. Channel 9 are going to do..... something different in their telecast on Wednesday  Following article is from - https://wwos.nine.com.au/nrl/state-...nd-hg-s-promise-to--quiet-man--bennett_021120

'Rampaging' Roy Slaven and HG Nelson to revisit 40 years of State of Origin for Nine

Iconic sports broadcasters and funnymen 'Rampaging' Roy Slaven and HG Nelson will look back on the 40 years of State of Origin in a special feature for Nine's coverage of the series opener on Wednesday.

The pair of comedians became an intrinsic part of Origin folklore with their quirky and hilarious commentary of the interstate series for Triple J radio.

They famously called players by their own made-up nicknames, with some that will live long in the memory including:

Butterball Buderus — Former NSW captain Danny Buderus wasn't spared for his alleged poor ball handling skills.

Fridge and Freezer — Rhyming slang for Queensland prop Petero Civoniceva

The Grassy Knoll — Queensland winger Brett Dallas

Tina Turner — Ben Ikin

The Golden Shower Boy — Julian O'Neill in reference to an incident at Jupiters Casino on the Gold Coast

Cheese and Chives / Salt and Vinegar — nicknames for brothers Darren and Jason Smith after famous Smiths Chips flavours

Raw Bones — Craig Fitzgibbon for his bald head

The Burning Map — John Cartwright in reference to the TV series Bonanza, which featured the Cartwright family and a burning map for its intro

Money Box Man — Nathan Hindmarsh in reference to being shown for wearing his shorts low and showing a "coin slot"

Pastor Stevens — in reference to Jason Stevens' faith

So it wouldn't be a big Origin anniversary without a touch of Roy and HG magic and that's what Nine will bring you during the coverage on Wednesday night.

Teasing their appearance, Roy and HG promised to touch on the best moments from Phil Gould, Ray Warren, Brad Fittler and Wayne Bennett, with Roy adding: "We're really going to open Wayne up, the quiet man of rugby league."

"He'll be talking for the first time on 40 fabulous years of fury," HG Nelson concluded.

Also featuring on Nine's coverage will be Queensland legend Chris 'Choppy' Close, who won man of the match in the first ever Origin match back in 1980.

Using the latest in broadcast technology, the Queensland legend will give a walkthrough of the sacred Lang Park turf as it was for that game 40 years ago, recreating his first experience of a concept that would become a sporting phenomenon.

Also marking the 40 years of Origin, Nine's broadcast of the series opener will be used to announce fan-voted all-time Origin sides to represent NSW and Queensland.

While the broadcast experience will be first class for all Origin viewers, it will be complemented by a live bog authored by Queensland icon Johnathan Thurston, exclusive to wwos.com.au.

Nine's Origin broadcast starts at 7pm (AEDT) on Wednesday, with the post-match coverage going through until 11.10pm.

Christ you're easily amused sweetheart. As long as NSW gets the job done, I'm not all that fussed. Looking forward to him having a big game.

Jake Friend is an odd pick. He's been a quality player sure, and unlucky to have played in the Smith era. Grant might not have appeared ready so if Bennett wanted a tackling machine surely Mahoney was the one? Is he injured?

I think he's earned his place, so long as he can stay healthy.

By no means convinced they will. Bennett has lifted average sides before, and Fittler has picked a team that is way out of whack. And most of all, Queensland need to win to put some interest (read money) back into the concept. With 5 of the Roosters side that conceded 60 in the final round, NSW should be quite adept at this sort of thing.
