SOUTH SYDNEY RABBITOHS: Damien Cook, Dane Gagai, Cameron Murray, Jaydn Su'A, Junior Tatola, Ethan Lowe, Campbell Graham, Braidon Burns, Bryson Goodwin, Troy Dargan, Joshua Cook, Lachlan Ilias, Keaon Koloamatangi, Blake Taaffe, Jaxson Paulo, Edene Gebbie, Jack Johns, Patrick Mago

That’s the rumoured 9’s squad for us, I like it tbh, nowhere near full strength but a good mix of first graders and youngsters.

Got Gagai, Campbell, Burns, Gebbie, Goodwin and Paulo in the backs.

Dargan, Taaffe, Ilias in the halves

Cook, J. Cook, Murray, Su’a, Tatola, Lowe, Koloa, Johns and Mago in the pack.

Obviously looks like we aren’t risking Latrell, AJ, Roberts, Allan, Tom.

Cody, Reyno, Knight, Nicholls, Dillon, Rodwell all either injured or in rehab.

No Sironen or Amone there either.

No Marsters, Hawkins, Denniss there as well.

Does this confirm Mago is a Rabbitoh?

I like the squad though would've liked to have seen Marsters. He looked good in the world 9's and appears to be a very talented back.

Personally don't care about winning the 9's so would've been happy for it to just be fringe and depth guys going.

Those playing in the Indigenous game have been left out as they spend next week in Indigenous Camp.

I believe Mago is in a train and trial contract currently.

By the way that leaked team was spot on.

Rabbitohs name team for NRL Nines: https://www.rabbitohs.com.au/news/2020/02/11/rabbitohs-name-team-for-nrl-nines/

Was honestly so excited to see that squad, the first team reveal of the year! pretty happy with it too! It's a shame Reyno won't be there, maybe there is some truth to the rumours that he has a groin strain. Still a great squad anyway with some class and absolute stars there. We've chucked in some fresh faces and some young guns which I really can't wait to see!

Congrats to Cookie on being named as captain, this will be the first time he's captained a Rabbitohs side.

Looking over all the team lists I think we’ve sent over a very competitive side. My contenders for the title would be Broncos, Cowboys, Sharks and us. Those are the 4 strongest squads I can see. Although it’s hard to predict as one club might have some gun juniors up their sleeve.

Parra are stronger than us for mine and Penrith also look very strong.

Who do you see in the Parramatta side as threats? I see Moses, Gutherson, Ferguson and Sivo as their main threats but I’m still convinced we have more quality in Cook, Murray, Burns, Gagai, Gebbie, Graham. All these players seem very well suited to the format. You’ve got to remember it’s a completely different format so some teams might struggle to adapt.

I just think Parra will go well and they have more first grade experience than us that will be out there.

Matterson and Lane will be hard to handle too! In saying that the Penrith side is even better and they’ll be very hard to handle.

I think we can get out of the group stage and make the quarters but I’m not sure we will progress any further than that.

Well here it is!! The day we have all been waiting for since September last year has finally arrived. Perth Nines day one means that Footy is finally back TODAY!! Honestly pumped, I'm so excited to see the boys back in action and I'm so excited to see how a lot of our new, young faces go.

Obviously, you want to win the Nines but I don't place a huge amount of value on it if you get what I mean. I just want us to be competitive and come out of it with no injuries.

So pumped guys!!!!

Souths players that I’m very excited to watch play today:

-Josh Cook- I think he’ll absolutely kill it in the 9’s. Supposed to have a very similar play style to Captain Cook.
-Koloamatangi- Absolute workhorse of a forward and he’s had big wraps for many years it’s great that he’s finally in contention for a spot in first grade as I think he’ll kill it.
-Dargan/Taafe- both our backup halves who have been killing it over preseason training. Will be good to see what they can do if Reynolds or Cody goes down.
-Gebbie - Apparently hasn’t been as inspiring at training as people would’ve hoped but we all saw him playing for PNG will probably do really well in this format.
