Is that right? None of your best players or captain are juniors. It’s hilarious how every club except chooks gets to count players that they developed from a young age despite the fact they come from no where near the club.

Lol. This post displays a stunning ignorance.

You don’t have to be born in the Penrith region to be a Penrith junior.

Fair enough I stand corrected.
There are still far fewer genuine juniors than I would have expected given Penriths natural geographic advantage. And ps I’m not having a dig a Penriths junior development, it’s second to none. I’m just responding to a dig at the chooks. Panthers have plenty to celebrate and be excited about right now without resorting to exaggerated cheap shots. For what it’s worth I’d like to see panthers win if we don’t. They deserve it after the season they’ve had. I actually think the premiers will come from this game.

How many juniors did you expect?

11 of the 17 starting this weekend could comfortably be called Penrith juniors.

Nah it'll be Easts v someone else where Easts have the trainer involved from the kickoff to stop a try to the opposition and then later with the game in the balance the ref signals 6 again to the opposition in the Easts 20 then says "nah, I'm only joking" . Then Easts pick the ball up and score the length of the field to win.

Depends if they've won 15 in a row and are a good opportunity to win the whole thing.

It boils down to 'don't blow your opportunity' as they don't come along often unless you're the storm or roosters.

Penrith are genuinely building a model for long term success. Phil Gould is much maligned, and did some weird things with contracts in his finals few years at Penrith, but one thing he did an excellent job on was expanding our junior reach. You see it with the guys from western NSW. Staines, Burton, Martin & Yeo. Not saying we’ll be as successful as the Roosters or anything, but if the plan is stuck to we should be a regular finals contender. At least a lot more regular than in the past.

No team has won the premiership after winning 18 games straight.

The panthers haven’t beaten a single team ahead of them on the ladder all year.

Their captain has had enough and has signed elsewhere for next year. Im not saying the coach has lost the dressing room, but I’m not not saying that either.

Gould should look back with pride with how he turned Penrith around. When he arrived Penrith were a total rabble and when he left they were a competitive team with a strong junior base and are now reaping the awards. Gould left Penrith in a much stronger position then what he found them. You can’t ask for more then that.

Which of those players are you referring too? I’m happy to consider all of them Penrith juniors even the ones that were raised and played junior footy 400 kms from Penrith if Penrith developed them for first grade. On the same basis Roosters could make the same claim on a big chunk of our squad

At the end he was getting in the way particularly of Hook around the FG team but the junior pipeline looks solid. This years u18 side was stacked so depending on the funding model post Covid it will stand for many more years

They’ve been training for that very scenario for years. Everyone thought Robbo was crazy but he showed them.

I am keen to see how our centre and wing combinations fair against the Roosters.

Say what you want about the Roosters form, the players could turn it on and the rest is history.

While I am confident we will come out with a win, the streak means nothing now and the Roosters are a quality side.

I always considered someone a local junior if they played most of their junior footy for a team in your clubs catchment area. For example, if a kid played most of his junior footy for St Clair that makes him a Penrith junior. If he played for Dee Why he would be a Manly Junior. A serious question for you...how many junior clubs are there in Easts catchment, is it Bondi United and perhaps one in Paddo?

The clubs are:

  1. Bondi United;
  2. Clovelly Crocodiles;
  3. Paddington Colts; and
  4. St Charles.

There’s two categories of players you haven’t considered juniors

firstly the guys who were born somewhere else but moved to the Penrith area at a young age

Crichton & Leniu (possibly others) fit into that category

Then there’s guys you mention that were developed for FG

Edwards
Burton
Naden
JFH

(and more)
