Here’s how the tackling in the air works in super league. The defender gets penalised an 8 point try for very minimal contact. This is a huge disadvantage for short wingers.
Plus it’s a disadvantage for short wingers at both ends of the field. With short wingers you have less of a target to kick to, we’re going to need a kicking target on each side of the field.

FMD the nrl is actually so stupid putting a rule like this into place. 9 times out of 10 the attacking player will catch the ball from a kick like that since they have the momentum of running about 10 metres before jumping whilst a defender will have to just have to jump from a standing position pretty much.
the rule was already in place in international footy. May lead to more tries but it will stop those cases where a bomb is contested and they waste 3-4 mins in the video ref.
Will be more one on one challenges in the air which is a good thing to keep the game flowing
More bombs is in no way a good thing for the sport
You couldn’t tackle in the air anyway so I fail to see how much will change.
You couldn’t tackle in the air anyway so I fail to see how much will change. Same rule is in test match footy and we don’t see plenty of bombs.
All it will do is when there is one it will clean it up and will be one on one instead of 3 or 4 in the air
Herbert already covered the tackling part and the other thing is the coaching is different. Internationals are a mini camp. NRL is the most competitive and professional version of the sport in the world where they have 6 or 8 weeks a year at most when they aren't training.
I can't wait till we see an attacker leap up and catch the ball then while in the air push the ball down beneath his body so its the first thing that will contact the ground on landing. Even if a defender is laying prone on the ground gets underneath it will be a penalty try. What a geniused rule change
Dude. You could tackle in the air, what are you talking about????? (If you were the defender)
You don’t seem to understand this rule change at all.
We all agree Bellamy is the best coach?
Addo-Carr the best winger?
Addo-Carr can’t jump that well. You don’t think Bellamy will come up with a way to overcome it?
Rules as per the coaching handbook
Maybe in NRL it was allowed but not in juniors or lower grades

There’s no “maybe” about it, you were allowed to tackle in the air if you were the defender! That’s the whole point of the rule change.
Why can’t you simply admit you’re wrong?
First you argued “that’s the rule at international level” and then you argued “tackling in the air was already banned”
