look at bloody Garlick’s judiciary record against roosters players and tell me again how non-players would be more biased.

Im not asking for a court of law system. I want the stupid need for high priced lawyers and legal bullshit removed. A pool of RLPA appointed defenders that will argue for every player charged in front of a panel of rule experts. Nice and simple.

None of this plea deal crap with legal teams and the appearance of a “jury of your peers” by loading it with ex players who couldn’t land regular jobs.

FFS we as fans of the game are not even afforded something as basic as the reasons for why each grading is given. No set of standards we can look to. The whole system is idiotic

what is his record with the roosters players?

a lot of roosters supporters thought it was ludicrous to have ben creigh on Radleys panel because roosters were playing Dragons the following week, and there was no chance he would get off, which turned out to be wrong by a long margin.

No "high priced lawyers" eh? You heard of due process and the right to representation are fundamental at common law. Some of those are the cornerstone of the Australian, and prior to that the British, legal system which have stood for hundreds of years. Try doing it and watch a player go straight to court and get an injunction about being denied a right to an advocate of their choice.

As to reasons for gradings, the NRL is not publicly owned so they can set the gradings as they like. Fans are not "citizens" who they have to explain jack to should they choose not to.

I'm curious as to how high priced legal representation is a right tbh...

The NSWRL used to make it forbidden for clubs to have any representatives at any dispute tribunal, until clubs and players started challenging it. IIRC legal advice was that if a club took the NSWRL to court, the player/club would win as you cannot set any restrictions on whom is the player/club's representative or advocate. As such the limitation was dropped.

Sure but that doesn't answer the question.

Essentially Danish is suggesting a Legal Aid/Public Defender's Office model (except appointed by the players) which infringes on precisely zero rights to representation.

So the Titans player who clocked Corey Oates in the back of the head after he scored has avoided the sheet, if Oates stays down it's probably an 8 point try

Sitilli will just have to cop his on the chin.

Not big deal as only a fine but don't think ikuvalu should hVe been charged. Penalty sufficient IMO.

You mean the amount of sooky carry-on a player does and the idiot rhetoric that follows from commentators has a direct influence on MRC charges? Shock horror.

Round 9 Charges

Two players charged out of last night's game -

Storm star Brandon Smith is facing the prospect of a two-game suspension over a shoulder charge on Rabbitohs hooker Damien Cook.

The match review committee has announced the findings from Thursday night's 50-0 rout by Melbourne over Souths and Smith has been handed a grade-one offence for a tackle in the 46th minute.

Smith can halve the suspension with an early guilty plea.

and...

Melbourne second-rower Felise Kaufusi was the only other player charged, pinged for grade-one dangerous contact head/neck on Cody Walker in the seventh minute which has him facing a fine of $1700-$2250.

He got some hospital loading and the ref missed it loading for sure, maybe contest the grading, I'm sure there would be similar that got grade 1 due to the recipient not getting as hurt.

Would have swapped those bans, Marata clearly worse. But meh

Odd that there wasn't a spear tackle charge...
