Who said we wanted to "extend all players +30 years"???

Talk sense, not hyperbole.

Is Adam not in the top 5 halfbacks in the comp right now? How many halves have the kicking game he has? How many goal kickers can be relied upon like Adam?

You must be in the minority because pro football minds like Laurie Daley, cant believe we cant offer Adam a 2 year deal.
Exactly Botany! It should also be remembered that some players only play for Souths because they are getting paid to do so. Then there are the guys like Reyno who grew up dreaming of playing for Souths. These are the guys you should be doing your utmost to keep as they are the ones who will give it everything they've got every time they pull on the jersey.

The thing for me R20 is that no player is bigger than the club. I think Reynolds is an awesome player and I definitely believe he can take us to another premiership but since 2015 Souths have really turned their game around in recruitment/retention. In my opinion Souths are turning into one of the best developing clubs in the comp. Im putting my faith in the club that they know what they're doing.

My biggest issue with this whole Reynolds contract saga is the way the player manager has acted. This is a year where we should be favourites for the premiership but all the media can bring up is Adam Reynolds' contract and I cant help but feel it's going to affect him later in the year. I really dislike the way player managers use the media. I think its really toxic for fans and it really triggers a lot of people. To be honest thats another discussion entirely.
If Reyno doesn’t get offered more than one year they’re making a big mistake!

I agree with Trav in the sense that we are in a Premiership window NOW! I agree that that window is starting to potentially close. If we can't win it this year, even next year after Wayne leaves, if we can retain the likes of Reyno, Gags and Su'A then we'll be up there again I believe.

Taaffe way well be the answer and he may turn out to be one hell of a player, I have faith that he will. But the reality is, that is all an unknown. As Trav has said, there has to be some kind of transiton. We need Taaffe playing a bench role for a while or making a number of appearances throughout a year to see what he really has in first grade week in, week out. Signing Reyno to a two year deal would allow you to remain competitive with a top, experienced halfback, while having heaps of time for that transition period. It's just a no brainer for me!!

Exactly brother!
Not to mention, this isn't any local or junior.
This is the greatest halfback and point scorer in the history of the club.

And it's not like he is injury prone like GI or Sam became. Adam's record is enviable in being able.to play game after game

From Sporting News, looks like it's all about to come to a head. Hate to say it but I can't see how the club or Reyno are going to magically change their stance by Monday,

North Queensland Cowboys confirm interest in Adam Reynolds as deadline beckons for Rabbitohs

North Queensland have formalised their pursuit of Adam Reynolds, with Cowboys officials set to meet with the South Sydney captain’s manager.

According to multiple reports, Cowboys recruitment manager Dane Campbell will meet with Reynolds’ agent Steve Gillis after the pair had a phone conversation on Wednesday.

Reynolds is locked in a stalemate with the Rabbitohs, who are only prepared to offer the 30-year-old a one-year contract extension for the 2022 season.

The goal-kicking half-back, who in February told Sporting News Australia he was ‘not on the same page’ with South Sydney management, wants a three-year deal.

At least five NRL clubs are understood to be monitoring the Reynolds saga, however the Cowboys are the first team to show their hand.

Senior reporter Phil Rothfield confirmed on NRL 360 on Wednesday night that the Cowboys had spoken to Gillis, and that there is now a deadline in place for the Rabbitohs to make a decision.

“They didn’t have a face to face meeting today, Steve Gillis and the Cowboys, but they spoke on the telephone," he said.

"The Cowboys registered their interest officially. After that phone call, Steve Gillis has gone back to the Rabbitohs and said he wants final clarification on their position with Reynolds.

"He wants an answer on that by Monday. If they don’t get that answer, he will then go back to the Cowboys and they can start talking length of contract and money."

The winless Cowboys were in the market for a genuine playmaker before revelations five-eighth Michael Morgan is likely to be medically retired due to a chronic shoulder injury.

Jake Clifford has already signed with Newcastle for next season, while Scott Drinkwater comes off contract at the end of the current campaign and is no certainty to stay in Townsville.

Reports on Tuesday suggested the Rabbitohs face a choice between Reynolds and representative outside back Dane Gagai due to salary-cap constraints.

Neither Reynolds, who has played 209 games for the Rabbitohs, or management have shown any signs of shifting their positions.

While coach Wayne Bennett has attempted to play down the Reynolds issue, South Sydney super-sub Benji Marshall last week admitted it appears inevitable the 209-game veteran will be forced out of Redfern after a decade of service.

Solly says we aren’t budging Hooper says

If so very very disappointing

It’s becoming more and more likely that Reynolds won’t be at Redfern next season with Fox League’s James Hooper confirming the Rabbitohs haven’t changed their position.
“I was in communication with (Rabbitohs CEO) Blake Solly earlier today and he’s adamant that they’re not budging, they’re not moving from the one-year deal.”

Disgraceful my Dad is appalled! I’m appalled!

It’s wrong just wrong! Goes against all our values as a club

It’ll hurt us big time

5 years back Souths decided to let Keary go and sign Reynolds to a very generous 5 year deal. Keary has gone on to win 2 more premierships elsewhere while Souths have won 0 under Reynolds since Keary left

Not only that but since Maguire became coach in 2012 Souths have lost their final 4 game every time except once in 2014 when Keary was there

This tells us the Souths team without Keary has always been lacking something as they have never made a GF without Keary

Souths are now making a fair offer to Reynolds in giving him 1 more year. If Reynolds wants 3 years he can go to the Cowboys and fade away

Club is playing hard ball. All this public furore, I don’t think either of them can back down.

The club might think that if Renno gets his way, it will start an ugly precedent, although he’s a special case. As I understand it, Renno was there long before any of the current management.

The club must also be very confident with the youngsters lined up to replace him. I hear good things.

I think Renno was behind Sandow who was great in his day.

It would be shame to lose him, but don’t forget that he can’t play forever. His body is probably done to some extent from his wonderful career.

And I rate him over Keary for his resilience and clutch friendly play. His general comfy demeanour. Brings such a nice solid feel to the halves. Keary isn’t as solid. Just my view.

I’m thinking 2 years will see everyone through. No one will like it, but it might be good.

But yeah, no wonder the cows are circling and whispers of others coming in late. He’s elite.

I remember people losing their marbles when Sandow signed with Parra in 2011.

There was some untested kid who came in to grade and took us to the finals in 2012 for the 2nd time in 22 years.

Reyno has been a wonderful servant but things move on. I’d hate to lose him, I’ve lived and loved every minute of watching him play for us. But if the time has come...sadly...we move on.
