You think so? wow we’ve never seen that before in sport.
Obviously. Melbourne have the worst kind of bandwagoners. The ones that don't even show up to games. WE HAVE 40,000 MeMbErs and a 66% winning record, but no one wants to watch us live.
Hmmm
Sydney v sydney team 21k
sydney v out of town team 11,477
melbourne v out of town team 20k

yep I’d say our problems don’t lie in Melbourne
Ridiculous point PR. Parra v Penrith would have drawn 50-60k and Cronulla v Cowboys probably 25k+ at Allianz. Those crowds were due to stadiums, not support.

Melbournes pathetic finals crowd was due to their, well, pathetic support.

You do realise there was a big fumbleball game on at the same time right? Sometimes these arguments should be directed at the management of the NRL (or lack thereof)

Also you have stumbled on another point. Why weren’t those other games played at those stadiums if they could draw those crowds?

Absolutely, well same day - with a small overlap. And while that is a factor, IMO the crowd should have been better. My point is that Melbourne have been boasting about their apparent huge support with their members count and fake sell outs, but then we use the AFL as an excuse? Oh sorry, our members and fans were supporting Collingwood tonight.

Nth Qld V Parra / Canberra
Townsville
sellout in hours this one .... will they erect the extra seating like they did for the origin last year & get the capacity up to 27500?

Penrith V Sharks / Roosters / Souths
Accor
Maybe 45 to 50K for any of those match ups

week 2
Friday
Parra V Canberra
Commbank ... sellout

Sat
Sharks V Roosters / Souths
where are we playing this one guys ?
I think it should be Allianz , 35K min & might push another sellout ( 3 in a row)
But I'd understand if the Sharks wanted it at Accor instead
Alliance is hardly home base advantage to anyone given it has only been available recently. Play it there I reckon

We had 11k for a final. Crowd attendances are an average of what 15k? Your argument might hold some water if teams in Sydney were averaging 30k a game.

I reckon QCB can jam a few more in on top of the origin set up if they let people stand behind each of the lower sections. Even letting 100 for each bay in the northern and eastern sides would allow for about 1.5k into the joint. I remember seeing articles prior to the opening that it was an option due to the top and bottom tiers bring separated and having that air gap.

Flights booked for next week, cannot f**king wait!!!!

We're not talking about home and away attendances. We're talking about finals attendances, and while Sydney's look trash on paper, they were held back. Melbourne's wasn't (based on their own bleating in previous weeks).

Hopefully they bring in those temporary stands like Origin 1 2021. or maybe they could do better given they have a bit more time now

yeah i think they will. I actually think they would be better off setting up some tier'd steps at the northern end and just make it all standing room. Although you can't charge as much money so they may as well put seats in to cash in.

Will be awesome, QCB is so much louder than the old joint, the roofing over the 3 main stands just makes it sound like there's double the amount that's actually there.

Whoever we play up there in 2 weeks will get a nice reception........

It is relevant though. Crowds are a problem for the whole competition (maybe your team excluded)

Also context. Considering, you are talking about an area where the game is a niche sport and forgetting about an area where it is considered to be the premier sport, the crowds in Sydney are a joke and much more of a concern than those in Melbourne.

Could Melbourne have done better, for sure, and scheduling is a factor but Sydney is a much bigger concern.
