Suncorp members need to opt into major events like Origins and Bledisloes before the tickets go on sale, if they don’t the tickets are sold to the GP. Those SCG trust members are pathetic - and I feel a majority aren’t even sports fans, it’s just a status thing for them.

It was weird that literally not one of them turned up?

it would be even more of a shame if the broadcasters actually put any value on that.
I guess we need to thank the aflol for hoodwinking broadcasters again, because we now have the mark for our next deal to be re negotiated on , as Vlandys indicated it will be & as early as the end of this year.

For once the fumblers didn't miss
Neither will the NRL 😎

Swans would be disappointed with the Sydney figure given they were in a playoff for a GF.
214K is their biggest number for a long time outside a GFin Sydney I think , & a good figure in isolation
But when you consider there was no NRL on during it & nothing else either inflating it hugely ...
it was about on par with previous swines prelims in Sydney.

anyway this is a crowds thread & the mods will shut down this chatter if it continues

Such a shame this decent stadium is going to waste for most of the season while shitholes like Brookvale, Leichhardt, Endeavour etc. get regular use.

The mob that run the stadium don’t seem to be very proactive..

I’d be trying to grab the Pacific Tests and PMXIII. More NRL season matches, Matilda’s games, the occasional Waratahs matches etc…

The comparison to AFL is silly because they don't have many big occasions compared to RL.
They have the Anzac day match, then the finals.
RL has State of origin , Internationals and finals so the hype is more diluted.
Let us compare our World Cup figures with the AFL lol .
RL is in a very unique place, it has a strong tribal following in Sydney, an expanding national presence, an unique concept that isn't present anywhere else in the world that is origin and a rapidly expanding international scene that has unprecedented growth in quality.

Very enviable in a lot of ways.

The only other game they have that I can think of would be the Irish/Aus hybrid game. To our Victorian brothers on here, how is this game received when played in Melbourne - genuine interest or a minor curiosit?

Prelim final crowds at Homebush since 1999 from highest to lowest.

Penrith v Canterbury back in 2014 only got 46,168.

Should be 55-60 i reckon with souths a bigger fanbase and Penrith has probably grown as well since 2014.

2020 between Penrith & Souths was covid restricted.

The thing going against this year, Zero lower grades.

That was always a good way to get neutrals to turn up, Go watch your lower grade team. Stay for the top grade

Was interested in what the members was like last night, couldn't really see it on the TV shots when I watched it in the second half , wondered how many members crossed over after the AFL, thought about going to both but I'm hobbled on one leg at the moment and had reserved seat for the Swans so just wanted to get home in one piece on one leg after the Swans.

Did we end up with a season final number for crowds by team? Unfortunately the nrl crowds stats site has stuffed it by counting magic weekend for every team.
