The Game 2022 Crowd Watch

Should have 1pm, 3pm, 5:30pm, 7:30pm Saturday

I would have 2, 4, 6 and 8PM. There is nothing wrong with 8PM on a Saturday night.

A single Friday 8PM game.

Sunday 2, 4 and 6PM.

That's not perfect but the NRL seem allergic to playing the odd game at the same time.

I would give back to the broadcaster by letting them flex games with a few weeks notice on the Saturday and Sunday. For example, today channel 9 could have switched the raiders game in to primetime with a couple of weeks notice.

A 9th game would leverage the unique time zones of the warriors and a Perth team. 6PM friday, 10PM Saturday, midday Saturday/Sunday, 8PM Sunday as examples.

Looks perfect to me. Big fan of a single Friday kicking off the round (and the weekend).

Thursday crowds would be a lot better if the game kicked off at 7 or 7:30. Monday Night Football, whilst it did have some dud crowds, also drew some massive ones, especially during school holidays because of its 7pm kick off.

Thursday nights should be an easier sell than Monday's were, yet the only reason they average anywhere near what MNF use to, is because there have been more Broncos games in that timeslot.

Why ko off at 8 though? Better to ko at 7 or 7.30 so families can still attend and people can kick on it on afterwards if they choose. I don’t see any advantages to 8pm ko’s and plenty of disadvantages. Games are taking longer and longer, the 90min game is now taking two hours,

Such a disappointing result for an awesome crowd. Imagine sitting in the cold Canberra weather to see that.
guilty :p

first trip to GIO Stadium, felt like I walked from Penrith to the stadium considering car parking.

disappointed in the Raiders fans who had tickets and didn't show up, team was in good form & Penrith ripe for the taking.

I think your being generous in the roosters game.
QLD Club on a Thursday night at the Scg. It’ll be lucky to make 9k.
the sunny coast & Bundy games will also be lucky to make 9k each.
C’Town has been pretty average for a while now And could easily get less then 10k.
Sharks & Raiders games will be around 11k.
Storm at 6pm and not in great form. It’s hard to predict and could get anywhere between 9k-11k.
Manly’s Max would be around15k.
If some bad weather comes it could pretty dismal.
I hope I’m wrong. There is potential for the Raiders game to surprise.
Thankfully we cleared 10k (nearly 12k)

THU Sydney v Brisbane, SCG - 14k
10495 - yep, was being generous

FRI Melbourne v Gold Coast, AAMI - 11k
10869 - almost bang on

FRI Manly v Parramatta, 4 Pines - 15k
17134 - underestimated

SAT Souths v Warriors, Sunshine Coast - 9k
8911 - almost bang on

SAT Canberra v Penrith, GIO - 12k
16912 - underestimated

SAT Cronulla v St G Illa, Pointsbet - 11.5k
11427 - almost bang on (granted, easy one)

SUN Canterbury v N Qld, Bundy - 7k (capacity 8.5k I think?)
8,521 - underestimated - capacity was correct

SUN Wests Tigers v Newcastle, C'town - 10k
9621 - pretty close

Some of your thoughts ended up accurate too - Raiders in particular.

The Manly crowd was great. Too bad they couldn’t get government funding for some new stands. If they had stands like the new one built and around 20k Capacity it would rock there.
