The Game 2022 Crowd Watch

The NRL did start a week before the AFL season this year (and has for many years).

The Storm will be lucky to get into the teens tonight, playing them against this traditional fixture is dumb dumb dumb.
I'm aware the NRL habitually starts a week or two earlier than AwFuL, but I cannot recall Melbourne having a home game at Melbourne Rectangular Arena during this period. I cannot understand why the NRL doesn't capitalise on this opportunity to have RL in the spotlight for a week in Australia's second largest city.

When Dave Smith was in control, one season kicked off with seven games in Sydney and one in Townsville during monsoon season. It's as if the people running our game want it to fail.

We have plenty of supporters in Melb, but many of them, understandably, are AFL first. Three from my regular group are Storm members, but they've been Richmond fans/members since birth...I wonder which game they'll attend tonight? Silly scheduling, but very used to it now.

Shark Park is 12000 capacity for season 2022. All Grandstand seats and 75% of the reserved concourse seats are already sold to Season Seat holders. Only limited GA available as of now for Saturdays game. This will be the case all year so if you are an away supporter expect to be on the hill!

Is it due to the construction work and why is it reducing capacity? Access perhaps?

That will kind of be a cool look like in the English game with away fans on one terrace

well , with the exception of Thursday nights & the early friday game or horrendous weather , you'd think it'd be 12K for every other home game

Eh 13K is fine really. A lot of clubs will be struggling to get that many on a Thursday night even without the competition from a big AFL game.

Apologies for harping on the same shit year in year out but NQ shouldn't be having any home games in the first few weeks. Why would you schedule 2 home games first up when it's the wet season this time of year up there? I've sat though driving rain up there in the first few rounds just shaking my head at the incompetence of the NRL and their clownery scheduling.

I'm convinced nothing will change until the NRL stops being a defacto Sydney competition.

10,057 at Kogarah Oval (Dragons v Panthers)

For a 6pm Friday night match at Kogarah Oval, its a pass mark. There was a tribute/presentation to Norm Provan and Johnny Raper prior to the match, which may have bumped up the crowd slightly.
