You know who has recruited far more Queenslanders over the last 2 decades, than the Storm, in fact almost 10 times more?

The Nine(9) teams located in Sydney.
Across nine teams 31 total players

Are you including Inglis as one of those qlders a Sydney side poached ?

of course the nrl can succeed in afl territories

we could’ve ignored Melbourne Perth and Adelaide and have more qld teams, another team in nz, central coast and png and the game would be stronger and also way bigger than afl
Breezy assertion that "NRL can succeed in AFL territories" followed by claims that we don't need them anyway. Fine line between arrogance and complacency. Play hard to get too long and you might get left on the shelf.

I don’t agree with this it’s kind of insecure thinking
Continually deferred ambition eventually acquires the hallmarks of real insecurity.

copying afl should be the last priority for the nrl
No comparison. Not even the most enthusiastic of NRL expansionists is suggesting putting a second team in Vic. And one would also be the accepted limit in WA.

Copying afl by trying for a “national” comp where half the country doesn’t care about the other code

nrl doesn’t need a club in Perth indeed we beat them by 30 million viewers last year without a Perth or Adelaide team

When NRL expands it needs to go where it is best for the game, Not just to put dots on the map. TV networks, Player development will have a say and will go from there

That's in Jan 2023, what about since 98?

The amount of QLD juniors recruited by Sydney teams, far outweighs any Storm recruitment in the same time period.

Why is one OK but not the other?

People would have said that about Sydney and Brisbane in the 80s for AFL.

Wasting your breath. These fellas epitomise the thinking and strategies of the administrators who have held the game back for decades. I’ve sat back and shook me head at this for 4 decades. How can rugby league be a truly Australian game when we have so many nay sayers? When our footprint remains so limited? To think we’ve had our asses handed to us on a plate by a bloody awful game like afl should be embarrassing. Instead we hide behind the one statistic we win, overall TV audiences and refuse to seriously entertain expansion in our own country. I can play the game of we are bigger than them as well as the next BS artist. The fact is we are running second on almost all comparative measures to our major competitor.

Nine teams vs one lol

Without super league both clubs were struggling

but Sydney is the jewel in the sporting crown in Australia

Perth Adelaide and even Melbourne are not

There is a thing here that people don’t want to admit with this argument. Even if people somehow stopped following league because of Super League then people still would have to like fumbleball in order to follow the Swans or Lions etc. You don’t do something or watch something if you don’t like doing it.

You have to be in the game to actually play it. This is why avoidance of going to markets like Perth doesn’t make sense. You can’t complain that nobody likes the game in Perth for example (which based on the amount of east coast migration for example in the last 20 years and just general sport consumption habits would be very hard to believe) if you don’t make an effort or give them the option.

In 96 I watched a full season of afl on tv

loads of bears tigers and south’s fans became swans fans

the 97 arl league grand final got me back to league otherwise I’d have stuck with fumble ball

So you watched a whole season of something you don’t like or you did like it at one stage?

Trying to piece together the logic of anti expansionists is tiresome. The points you made above are absolutely correct. I’m running out of ‘can I be bothered’ reading the endless negative drivel by those who want to contain the game to safe markets. I live in Hobart ffs. We have absolutely nothing here. But people are interested in the game. If the number is small then whose fecking fault is that? Refusing to expand nationally is illogical drivel. But here we are.

Who is anti Expansionist here? Generally in sport in this country expansion clubs have struggled. How we expand and it be a success is the discussion

The benefit needs to outlay the costs, For the club and broadcasters that is the Question mark I have on Perth ( Unless it is with the Bears )

Anyone wanting theBears or PNG before Perth( & as much as it’d be epic reading PRAFL rants) it’s a no brainer.

Perth has to be next .
it should have been this season with the Dolphins .

I just thought afl was a joke back then

the hatred came later when they started claiming to be bigger than rugby league and other afl bs

it was mainly swans games

heck they even played out of a St George jersey
