More importantly how much is he willing to sacrifice in order to stroke his ego?

Yep this is the scary part. If any funding can be achieved it must go to funding grass roots participation and not get sucked up by the clubs so they can pay out millions to coaches sacked before their contract is up.
The clubs & players will get their share of any upgrade , as they should
they're the only reason the sport is paid anything ..
like any sport

If they're paying the derps & dropsies 400 mill for 9 games a week for a super saturday mainly & not much else , then we should get 90% of that for exactly the same thing .. no other concessions except maybe some guarantees for the next deal moving forward .. ie 6 exclusive games a week from 2028 etc
360 mill
deal goes up to 523 mill to their 592
or if we go to 9 games before 2028 then we get 400 mill too

they set the bar , they have shown they have the cash

lets see it ...or else

They had the cash, they spent the cash, just not on us lol. Like your optimism though.

you've never heard of a contract being ... upgraded ?

you sound worried ?
hahahaha

You really think they are going to upgrade a contract to the extent of or even close to the fumbleball one? They are under no obligation to do so and according to reports they explicitly rejected the insertion of a clause that would have enforced them to pay the same as they did fumbleball. It’s not their fault Vlan idiot agreed to sign it.

V’landys got played big time.

The NRL shouldn't bother with Fox. Instead of sucking up to them for an upgrade, why don't they just begin talks with other alternatives for the deal commencing in 2028.

Build relationships and exchange new ideas with other alternatives like Paramount, Amazon Prime, and when the time comes, do a deal in 2025 or 2026.

If the NRL commission (not just one person), do it right, then it will receive a great offer from someone to the extent that it would put enormous pressure back on Fox.

Time for the NRL to listen to other alternatives.

That would require leadership that isnt in the pocket of news ltd!

Agree though, first thing Vlandys should have done this week was get on the phone to Paramount!

So despite protestations from some on here all three bidders were deadly serious and put in significant bids it seems. Shows what competitive tension can do for a final sale figure.

He probably should sign memorandum of understandings at a bare minimum rather than banking on verbal understandings. This isn’t some dealing with a race track out in Orange.
Didnt Arko get a verbal agreement from Packer he wouldnt do a deal with Murdoch during the SL war, we know what happened next....it's business

That just makes it even more relevant to get something in writing. He has been done over twice now.

Its just basic business isnt it, like putting your house up for auction you want competition to drive up the price. His reward was an extension on his contract.
