Lmao it’s seven yearsThat would be a brilliant result for them considering that is even more per annum than they announced.

I read somewhere that the deal with Fox and Seven is $3.85 billion over 7 years. The rest, I would assume is from Telstra.Nobody knows not even wookie
that’s the whole point of me calling this deal bs
in the past Telstra payments was for streaming afl games on their app so it was fair to include it in their deals
but now it’s not
news ltd literally posted an article saying the value of the deal from foxtel and seven was 3.5
Billion over 5 years
that in itself is a great outcome for afl

IIRC, it was the figure of $550 million that was bandied about around here (LU) a day or two before the announcement.$550m seems to be the price, I have seen that quoted a few times
And every article since the announcement was actually made says its more. Including by league journos.
Again though the $593m includes contra for Marvel renovations
You don't even know the deal so how can you say how much was lost? Nor what is included in it

When the upgrades to Marvel are done and the cost is announced, The answer will be known. People are just inpatient
The $643m includes Telstra money. Not $593m
Rubbery figures, but AFL has 100 million reasons to gloat over TV deal
On face value, the AFL’s eye-watering broadcast deal could have Peter V’landys reaching for something stronger than coffee, but there remains strained optimism at Rugby League Central.www.brisbanetimes.com.au
Roy Masters has it at that but also $450m which if the cash is $400m could be correct, No one is disputing a difference. Just how much the difference is, Which doesn't matter in the grand scheme of things. However if we are discussing if the NRL deal as a dud or not then probably should have correct figures to compare
The AFL CEO said at the announcement that cash was north of 4 billion over the deal and the total deal was 643m a year including Telstras digital rights and total contra which league reporters and supporters are all believing will be 5 or 6 times a year what it currently is (presently 16m pa).
People just want to pick and choose the media reports they want to believe.
And even then Roy Masters isnt citing a definitive figure, the NRL simply gave a "more than 400m" and left it at that.
Bottom line is no one knows what the NRL total is, whereas the AFL gave a definitive in its announcement.
6 x $16m is $96m is that the upgrades too?
The article yesterday said NRL announces cash amounts only also there is a few things not announced on the NRL one too. So I get not having a actual amount again though it doesn't bother me it, Just frustrating some on here with to hang the ARLC without actual figures
They've never just announced cash amounts before.
Thats because whatever the figure is, its nowhere near the AFLs deal for 2023-2024, let alone the parts of the deal for 2025-2027 (ending 2031).
The fact is the language from PVL says both he got all the money there was, but also that he was protecting the broadcasters from themselves by not alllowing them to pay too much - which he says is good for the industry as a whole.
Contra at marvel doesn’t countAnd every article since the announcement was actually made says its more. Including by league journos.
The 16m is the current total contra deal annually - not just Telstra.
Note that: Telstra had the same technology and digital rights deal built into the 2023-2024 deal extension for which we are told cost the same as the 2018 original deal at 50m pa.
Contra at marvel doesn’t count
it’s got nothing to do with the tv deal and isn’t actually cash being received
the article quoted 3.5 billion from seven and fox (excluding Telstra)
that’s the only time it’s been broken down like that
so the figure nrl has to beat next time around is 500 million pa from our tv guys including contra
