How true we explained with links that the NRL get over $400m pa CASH.
Well last year, the only year with have with budget statements , supposedly by Perth Red this gap is huge. Lets look at facts, the AFL stated that
Media and AFL media revenue was $444m for 2023...... Ours was somewhat under a heading called Licencing which encomapssed Merch Gambling fes, this figure
was $485m pa for 2023. I would say $80to $84m m pa was such fees not media , which left Media at over $400m pa that the CEO explicitly said. ( and going up with inflation) , however it was over $400 million pa. Elsewhere they have income from websites, so it not under licensing. thefigure was Several million and they account for Contra as a expence at $34m on page 77 of the NRL budget for 2023.
But somewhat strangely under the AFL have heading they have 'Media and
AFL media at $444 million, so a difference of say $40-$44 million, under 10% to the NRL.
But what is AFL Media and if we extract this amount maybe the NRL come out on top. I would say AFL media get the Telsra $50 million, which if you minus this amount the NRL comes out on top and this year ( now) ON TOP
$405m pa NRL
$$444- telstra $50 m equals
$396m pa for AFL
From Wiki...
Established in 2012, AFL Media provides content to AFL.com.au and the AFL Live
mobile app, and formerly published the
AFL Record from 2012 to 2018. Although
Telstra currently holds the digital media broadcasting rights for AFL games, there is an agreement in place that allows AFL.com.au to host video content from
Telstra Media.
[1] Telstra also receives the advertising revenue from the website.
[2] Although AFL Media is located in the same building as the AFL's headquarters in
Docklands, Victoria, it employs an independent editorial and journalist team to report on the league and produce content on its various mediums.
[2]
Who
employs this large staff... the AFL so that's a 'cost' , they say interdependent BUT that they don't share in the revue from adverting which gous to the Telstra.. So their is a established relationship between Telstra and AFL media- therefor that's where the $50 m pa Revenue from Telstra is accounted for.
This would mean this the proper place th
Account for the Telsra media $50m pa fee that the AFL gets from Telstra. So as above the $444 m Pa the AFL gets in it's
Media and AFL media includes the Telstra amount.

So again we PROVE that the NRL are in front or equal if you take off couple of million for Radio licensing fees.
Again we winning , when we sign of next deal we aim to clearly overtake the AFL.
